This products works okay , but you need a battery(9v) and it is more complacsted than it needs to be. I have had other stud finders which were easier to use .

Aside from all the cruel stud-finder jokes you'll get from your female counterparts, this unit works well enough. The built in 8' measuring tape is a novel little addition that you'll find nominal at best. The colossal giggle factors about this item are realized soon after you use it for the first time. The unit obviously has to calibrate every time you search for your member, and it does so with a rather loud high pitched squeal. Yes, it only lasts about 5 seconds, but it does this EVERY TIME! Combine that with the fact that this is the same squeal it uses to tell alert you to the fact that you have found your post and you have a folly of squealing unpleasantness that is sure to dismay (not to mention deflating any hopes of getting lucky later in the evening, as we all know the negative affect loud squeals can have on our intentions).

Now for the topper; the unit's accompanying dialogue tells you can "mark" the magic spot once it is detected. If you look at the product image you will notice that black semi-circle sticking out on top. Well, it's a piece of very hard plastic that says "press down." Maybe that's some sort of psychological advice or something because the plastic is so stiff and rigid you cannot press it, and even if you could, why would you? I did contact them and I must say it took them a while to find my answer, and they did keep me informed as the suspense elongated. They finally concluded the feature was intended for you to make a little mark once you have attained success in your search. But it does not do this because you need a sledge hammer if you really want to make the plastic piece make a mark, and that would obviously make a mark bigger than you may need.

So, you can fill you head with a high pitched sonnet and then measure your sanity with the built-in tape measure. Yay!
