This review is from: Irwin Industrial Tools 49905 I-100 5/16-Inch Auger Bit (Tools & Home Improvement)
Was a little suspicious about the low price when ordered. Finally I'm very pleased with the purchase - typical Irwin quality auger bit (not Bosh, of course) but made in Brasilia (that explains the price). Will not cut nails but going through the wood, plastics and composites very well.

I purchased this from a local hardware store for a couple bucks more, which I find expensive for a drill bit. Connected to my 18-V drill it's going through 4-by-4 like butter. I like it over the Speedbor Max because the hole shaft is cleaner. And I love it over the spade bits because with those the exit hole is a huge mess. The 9/16-inch size is perfect for driving rebar through wood for a shed pad I'm doing. I have tried 1/2-inch (too small) and 5/8-inch (too large). This 9/16-inch size is harder to find but a better match for regular 1/2-inch rebar.

This review is from: Irwin 49916 1-Inch by 7-1/2-Inch Solid Center Auger Bit (Tools & Home Improvement)
Its a drill bit that does what it says. We built our own home and I used this bit for all of the wiring, worked great. I ecspecially love the coarse screw point, the bit did not run it just started drilling where I put it. I only used it on 2x4 but seems to be as sharp as the day I purchased it. Would definetely buy again but I might purchase in a bit shorter length. Once it was attached to the drill it was a bit long and hard to get in between the 16" stud spacing.
