More About the Author
Top Customer Reviews
The commentary series divides Isaiah into two volumes. The same author writes both volumes. Volume one discusses chapters 1-27. The book has an introduction and outline and a bibliography for further study. The commentary text is in the traditional verse by verse format. All comments are based on the NIV text, which is included in the book. The writing is thorough and clearly stated. There are footnotes for further explanation of certain ideas and important Hebrew words are explained in the text. The Hebrew words are shown in the Hebrew alphabet and spelled phonetically for those of us who haven’t studied Hebrew.
There are also some special studies such as: Zion, the use of figurative language in prophetic literature, conditional fulfillment of prophecy, the nature of the fulfillment of the Old Testament in the New and Isaiah and Apocalyptic.
This book will be most valuable to someone who is teaching and is limited in budget and time.
The publisher, College Press, also published the Bible Study Textbook series which is now out of print and can be downloaded for free from the publisher's website in pdf form
