5.0 out of 5 stars A must for cardiologists working in clinical research, March 31, 2000
By
This review is from: Ischemic Heart Disease: A Rational Basis for Clinical Practise and Clinical Research (Hardcover)
This book is the view of ischemic heart disease from an internationally acclaimed physician-scientist. It includes a clear description of ischemic heart disease and atherosclerosis from basic mechanisms to pathophysiology and treatment. The discussion of coronary physiology is particularly clear and rich of informations not easily found in the cardiology literature. The author has a provocative vision of the mechanisms leading to myocardial infarction, with a particular focus on non-traditional risk factors and on the role of inflammation. Although some of the informations provided are a bit dated, (the book was published in 1995), the aim of the author is mainly to give a "method" of analysing basic and clinical data in order to produce new clinical investigations. This book is a must for anybody working in clinical research and is also highly recommended for clinical fellows who wants a textbook which helps to to think with their minds instead of a traditional cardiology textbook.
