this is an amazing book.

i recently had to write a short college paper on the ise shrines, and was intending to use this book as quick reference, but once I opened the cover i couldnt put it down. I sat in the library and read it cover to cover. its much more condensed than the authority on ise architecture, Ise: Prototype of Japanese Architecture, but the wealth of information it contains is varied and articulate. the layout is also very well done, and supplemented with poignant photography.
