Book Description

The book Islam – Its Beauty & Wisdom is a novel presentation of Islam, interweaving traditional Islamic material with well-documented contemporary research from the physical and behavioral sciences. This book provides an understanding of the wisdom of Islamic teachings from a religious-scientific perspective. This is a refreshingly different approach to a classic subject of the wisdom behind Islamic acts of worship. It has meanings and relevance to both Muslim and non-Muslim readers.

Editorial Reviews

Review

This book first explains what the five pillars of Islam are in such a way any person, Muslim and non-Muslim, can understand and appreciate. It then heads in a direction I have never personally seen before in any religious manuscript. By this, I mean it provides us with an effective scientific reasoning to explain health benefits associated with Islamic acts of worship..... If one really wants to understand Islam, then I can think of no better place to start than this book by Dr. Mushtaq. --Jeffrey Ira Bernstein (Molecular Biologist, U.S.A.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Concise Introduction to Islam November 3, 2010
By Anthony
Format:Paperback
With my minimal knowledge of the religion of Islam, I wanted something thorough, but not scholarly. This book is perfect. It's laid out as an undergrad textbook, with the sort of logic we westerners expect to see when being introduced to something. Each of the five pillars of Islam is explained in separate chapters, then each chapter is broken into well-defined sections, making it easy to understand. He covers all the basic pillars of Islam, and much more, in a way the layman can easily understand. At the same time, he gives extensive scientific references to the research he has quoted in his book, making it appealing both to layman as well as the educated, to Muslims as well as to people of other faiths. Let's say you know nothing about Islam. But you want to learn everything about it that can be learned in one book, and in a readable format. Pick up Gohar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Introduction to Islam April 7, 2010
Format:Paperback
This book is the best introduction to Islam I have ever read. Many authors have written books about the beliefs of Islam....etc. However, Dr. Mushtaq's book is unique in that it discusses the fundamental acts of worship in Islam (the pillars of Islam) in a scientific way. This book is filled with references from prestigious scientific journals and articles. This book presents the teachings of Islam in a very rational way. Its chapters include scientific wisdoms behind prayers, fasiting, charity, rituals of pilgrimmage (Hajj), early morning prayers, etc. I highly recommend this introduction to anyone who is interested in learning about the most misunderstood religion on this planet (get a copy and you'll see why I give this book such high marks.
