I am a Moslem and trained as an Islamic scholar. As of most Moslems I was not exposed to other points of view. After reading this book by Dr. Shorrosh and cross-referencing with the Quran, it confirmed all the scientific, historical, theological, and moral errors that are in the Quran. It confirms without any doubt that the Quran is NOT an inspired or divine scripture.

This book smartly divides into two sections, the first is the text of a debate held between the author and the leading Muslim theologian apologist in the world. They met in several debate settings with thousands of people in attendance--held in Royal Albert Hall in London, England. The second half is apologetics at its best as the author takes the Islamic scriptures (the Koran) to task for their open contradictions, spurious language, and blatant misunderstandings of Christianity by Muslims in general. The author, Dr. Anis A. Shorrosh is a Palestinian by birth, having lost his family home during the Israeli invation of Nazareth in 1948. He became a Christian while living in refugee conditions in Jordan. American missionaries brought him to the USA were he received an education (B.A., M.Div., PhD., D.LL) from several seminaries and colleges. He is presently an apologist for the Christian faith and is currently in demand for revivals, meetings, mission talks, etc. The author was recently honored by the Southern Baptist Convention for his 25+ years as an Itenerate Evangelist. He is married and has four children, and by the way, love Jews as well as Muslims. For the person who wants to know more about Islam, in particular how to speak intelligently with Muslims about what they believe, based on their own bible the Koran, this book is a must read. This book is currently in use in several seminaries and is of great profit for both new and seasoned apologists. The author also has several others books available as well as videos and cassettes (Titles include: The Liberated Palestinian -- His biography; and, Jesus, Prophecy and the Middle East, his contribution to literature for understanding our times in light of scripture). Finally, Dr. Shorrosh caused quite a rucus when he was heard on the Rush Limbaugh program during the Gulf War. I understand Rush had him on repeatedly during that time and that he reported over 100,000 attempted calls into the show while Dr. Shorrosh was speaking (three separate interviews by phone). Dr. Shorrosh is, among many things, my father, of whom I am very proud. He has stood up to the worst of insults Islam had to offer, and even survived an assasination attempt on his life while speaking in South Africa. Dr. Shorrosh holds no ill will towards the religion of most of his ancestors in the Middle East, however, he offers the privilege of coming out of darkness into the light through introducing the reader to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, God in the flesh. Every Christian apologist, teacher, evangelist, missionary, preacher, professor, and layman should have a copy of this book in order to be prepared for the Islamic invasion of the USA.

I bought this book after having listened to the author speak on two occasions, where I was extremely impressed in relation to his knowledge of the Hebrew-Christian Holy Bible, the Quran and the fundamental beliefs of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

The author, describes himself as a Christian Palestinian/Arab, who grew up from childhood surrounded by practicising Moslems.

He not only impressed me with his depth of knowledge but also with his enormous love for both Arab and Jew alike. Something which is unfortunately an extremely rare commodity in these days, and which the World would do well to emulate. His infectious smile and all embracing respect are captivating.

In this excellent book he details in some depth the `driving force' behind the fanatical, moderate and conservative sects of Islam based on many years of research and study. The underlying and prevailing attitude towards Moslems at all times in this study is one of love and compassion, yet with an earnest desire that they all come to see the truth amidst the countless inaccuracies that are presented to them.

The book carefully details, through many comparisons between the Quran and the Bible, the inaccuracies and contradictions which form the foundation of the Moslems' beliefs. Not least, the book contrasts the Holy, virtuous, sinless life of Jesus Christ to the turbulent, violent, sixth century life of Islam's prophet Muhammad. The eloquent and learned writer knows and shows where both faiths agree and disagree and presents an illuminating dialogue in print that everyone should pay attention to.

There is no propaganda in this book. It is very `meaty' and can be read time and again as well as being an excellent reference book. Relating to his own personal history, the author describes how he can identify with (but not justify) the `passion for revenge' on both sides of the Arab-Israeli conflict. However, he then describes how Christ the Messiah `intercepted' him and prevented him from becoming a terrorist. He elaborates that upon his surrender to the King of Kings and the Prince of Peace, his hatred for the Jews drained from his heart. He goes on to describe how, in November 1973 during an interview on Israeli television/radio, he was able to publicly declare that "I love you because of Jesus".

Not everyone will agree with the minuscule references to politics made in small sections of this book, but in relation to the fountain of love and knowledge emanating from these pages, one cannot fail to be moved and educated. If you have any interest in the Middle East, the Arab-Israeli conflict or Islam-Christianity, then get yourselves a copy of this book. Thank you.

When a Muslim scholar Ahmed Deedat claimed before the audience in Birmingham Hall, England, that Jesus promised his followers the coming of his successor, Muhammad, it was Dr. Anis A. Shorrosh who challenged Mr. Deedat to a debate on the divinity of Jesus. Two debates then ensued between the two religious scholars. The second, centered on the topic `Is Jesus God?' resulted in a setback to the Muslim veteran. Dr. Shorrosh's book Islam Revealed: A Christian Arab's View of Islam (Thomas Nelson Inc, Tennesse, 1988) is inspired by this experience.

With a foreword by Dr. Adrian Rogers, Islam Revealed is divided into two main parts. The first part presents an overview of Islam as a religion, the life of Muhammad, Islamic convictions on Jesus and crucifixion, and the validity of Quran versus Bible. Dr. Shorrosh brings to light the turbulent life of Islam's last prophet touching on his polygamy, alleged holy wars, literacy, and strategies adopted to expand his circle of influence. Startling secrets are revealed by the Christian Doctor of Ministries as he refers to some unspoken-of historical happenings. Comparing Muhammad's life with that of Jesus, the author attempts to prove the divinity of the latter. Interesting connections are revealed between Quran and earlier Arabic texts; connections that challenge the divine claim to Islam's most revered book.

The second part of the book presents the readers with main points from the arguments of both debaters and rebuttals of both sides. While both show logical slips in their arguments against refuting each other's position, Dr. Shorrosh maintains his composure and a greater degree of reason against his Muslim contestant. Questions for thought about God, Jesus, and crucifixion add to the flavor of this interesting religious debate.

Islam Revealed carries endnotes, bibliography, and a glossary of Arabic terms with English meanings makes it easy for a Non-Arab to apprehend the points taken up in Dr. Shorrosh's arguments.

To the reviewer below who states that more blood has been shed in the name of christianity than Islam: He needs to remember that when Christians act violently, they are clearly acting against the teachings of Jesus. When moslems act violently, they are simply following their own leader who was a militant conqueror who murdered thousands and was an adulterer.

The popularity of Islam Revealed in the English speaking world speaks volumns concerning its validity and vitality. It's a monumental bestseller dealing with the religion, prophet, facts and fallacies of Islam. The excellent book includes the debate material which was presented at Royal Albert Hall in London on the topic "Is Jesus God". The majority of the presentation at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham, England concerning the debate "The Quran or the Bible: Which is God's Word" is found in the book. (Incidentally there were over 11,000 people present during the 5 hour historic debate.) Amazingly enough the author has met several converted Moslems who came to Christ as a result of reading Islam Revealed! Other individuals who were seeking to make a decisions for Christianity or Islam emerged into the Christian Faith once they read the book. Some colleges and universi- ties utilize this critically acclaimed document as a testbook in comparative religions or as a research workbook.

The author has received numerious threats because of his debates and book from fanatics. So far he has survived three attempts but keeps going in his attempt to present the truth in love.

As a former Muslim I'm glad that we have people like Shorosh who dares to challenge this "Islam Means Peace" deception which is prevalent in the West. Politically correct minded Westerners must realise that the Crusaders, the Spanish Inquisitors and other violent acts committed in the name of Christianity were against the teachings of Christ. Presumably Christians who kill non-Christians would be in Hell according to Christianity.

Muhammad on the other hand said, " No Muslim should be killed for killing a Kafir" (infidel). Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 9:50

In abrogating the earlier verse that "There is no compulsion in religion", the Quran and Hadith say:
"When you meet the unbelievers, strike off their heads; then when you have made wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives."
"If you do not fight, Allah will punish you severely, and put others in your place."
"Those who die fighting for the only true religion, Islam, will be amply rewarded in the life to come"
"Fight the unbelievers in your surroundings, and let them find harshness in you."
"Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them, capture and besiege them and prepare for them every kind of ambush."
"Kill those who join other gods with God wherever you may find them"
"It is a grave sin for a Muslim to shirk the battle against the unbelievers, those who do will roast in hell"

And there are about 123 of such verses advocating violence against Jews, Christians and other infidels. When the Islamic scriptures are so clear, there is no issue of interpretation, is there?!!... Please bear that in mind before you accuse Shorosh's claim of Islam being not that peaceful as misinterpretation of the Quran.

If Muslims say that 9/11 was not representative of 'peaceful' Islam and it was ISLAM WHICH WAS HIJACKED then Muslims should say that Allah would send those 19 martyrs who hijacked the planes to Hell as it is against the teachings of Islam. But of course, that is not the case. How should merciful Allah deal with the tens of thousands of Muslims who celebrated, danced on the streets and shoot in the air after the HIJACKING OF ISLAM??

I suggest those who say "Why don't Christianity be criticised too" and "Look at the Crusades" to find news articles and pictures of priests and pastors calling apostates to be killed, adulteress to be stoned, death to non-Christians, hijacking of planes, bombing of building and embassies, Christians dancing on the streest after the bombing of Afghanistan and Iraq, non-Christians being attacked by a Christian mob after a church service. Problem solved!

... I have read Islam Revealed and find it to be a very good book about Islam. Dr. Shorrosh is a Palestinian Arab, has lived most of his life around Muslims,and has debated the subject of Islam for years.
Dr. Shorrosh critically examines the life of Muhammad and the history of Islam, including the violent battles waged against any people who did not accept Islam as a revealed religion. To this day Islam is a religion that encourages violences against any who do not accept its teachings. Dr. Shorrosh also reveals the tremendous number of historical errors and contradictions in the Quaran concerning, among others, the genealogy of Abraham; the life of Moses; the error of confusing Mary, the mother of Jesus, as the sister of Aaron; the error as to the birthplace of Jesus; and the life of Jesus.
Dr. Shorrosh also writes extensively about the inferior role of women in Islam. A Muslim husband may divorce his wife without a single reason and may have up to 4 wives. He may beat his wives if they disobey him.
For those who are interested in a scholarly, historical and theological comparison between Christianity and Islam, this book is an excellent start.

A great book,unveils the secrets of the Islamic religion,exlains how Islam mistreates the women by allowing to beat the women and consider her lower class, as she, inherites half the mans share and considered as half witness in court of law since she is considered as half witt,and how islam punishes the apostate by cutting the head by sword,and how a musilm should treat a christian and jew by humilation (as to brought them low),and pay a tribute to keep their faith or will be killed, that is just few things to mention,since muslims hide all these facts,enable them to spread their religion in any possible way,and by means of war,(Jihad) and take others peoples,lands, property and women as concubiens for them, everyone should read this book to know the real facts.

Mr. Shhorosh provides a great overview and analysis of Muhammad and the Quran, being neither offensive, nor rude. He also answers numerous claims against Christian doctrine. An invaluable book/resource for anyone
