5.0 out of 5 stars Exellent contribution to Islamic study, February 4, 2007
By
The year 1492 was of importance both for the discovery of the Americas and for the final conquest of Muslim Granada and the final unification of Spain. The question has always remained however, what happened to the Muslims who remained in Spain, how did they continue to live their lives, what restrictions were placed upon them?

This book answers all of those questions and more. A detailed study of not just the lives of Muslims (or Moriscos) under Spanish rule but also their culture (a large body of Spanish-Arabic text is not only studied but translated here for the reader) How Islam continued to survive in secret under Spanish Christian rule and also the final demise of Islamic culture in Spain.

An exellent contribution to the study of Islam in the West.
