This review is from: Islamic Resurgence in South Africa (Paperback)
This book is not just for those interested in Islam, it is for any student of how religion, cultural identity, demographics, economics and politics all interact. Dr. Tayob accomplishes this by focusing on one organization, the Muslim Youth Movement. 211 pages, indexed, many footnotes, charts, bibliography. An excellent example of scholastic clarity- I wish more books were written with this conciseness.
Chapters include:
The modern Islamic paradigm
Muslims in South Africa (historical background)
Resurgent Islam in south Africa
The Muslim Youth Movement
Islamism, the Iseology of Islam
Islamic Contextualism
