It is shaped like a surf board and features a striking striped bamboo finish, which is created without the use of dies or stains. Instead, we us a natural process of burning the bamboo to achieve the darker color, while the white color is in fact the natural color of the bamboo. Island Bamboo specializes in creating beautiful bamboo products for your home. Bamboo is a truly strong material. Durable and long-lasting, it is 16-percent harder than hardwoods like Maple and Oak. I first saw this surf board cutting board on a vacation in Hawaii and regretted not purchasing it then. Found it on Amazon when I got home and had to have it. Beautiful, smooth wood grain in natural colors matches my kitchen nicely. It looks so nice, I am leaving it out for display. I have not used it yet, as I hate to mess it up! It has a nice weight to it, not thin or flimsy. Just wish it was a little bigger, but overall very happy with my purchase.
