As someone who grew up with Dr. Seuss and grew wise with Ayn Rand (and many others), I can say that this is a great book to read with your own young children so that they understand the libertarian point of view.
Plus, its fun to read your progressive friends and watch them self-destruct trying to deflect the obvious results of their failed attempts to control and manipulate the lives of free men. :)
This is a fun book to get kids to ask questions. They are not going to get it the first time, and for all I know they'll come away with a different opinion. But they will understand this point of view a bit better, thanks to this fun book.
Cultural conservatives might want to beware, the book hints (somewhat) that regulation of marriage is part of the problem... this book represents a libertarian view, not necessarily a conservative view.
Lastly, let's accept the fact - it is "parenting" to teach your children your own views and morals; it is "indoctrination" when the *state* teaches your children *their* views. Those who don't understand this are either not parents themselves, or probably fairly bad ones. If you don't like the book or respect the libertarian view, you can do so as free man yourself. But please, save your sanctimonious lecture on parenting for the community raised welfare rats who find value in it.
