Excellent Counting Book,
By
This review is from: Island Counting 1 2 3 (Hardcover)
It's a great counting book because there are sentences, not just the numbers. I heard that children should hear sentences because it puts things in context. And of course with sentences there, I don't have to improvise and it introduces her to more words. Also the number of items in the book correspond to the number. On the number two, there are 2 butterflies, trees, coconuts, etc. So I can also teach her these other things. Later I can go back and say point to the parrot, tree, etc. My child is 18 months. On the bottom corner of each page is the number, and she points to the number and I can tell her what number it is. The book really does have an island feel. There are coconut trees, mango trees, it speaks of the old sugar mill, cricket player and their bats. There are steel pan drums. It mentions carnival time. I think it really great introduction to island culture for little children.
