Book Description

The book formerly known as Act of Redemption...

A shy librarian and a dashing FBI agent must work together to catch a killer and recover a priceless silver treasure in this light and sweetly romantic suspense novel from the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Do It Yourself Home Renovation mysteries and the Cutthroat Business mysteries.

On the island of roses and ruins, love awaits and danger lurks.

When Annika Holst's father dies, it's up to the young librarian to carry out his last will: to take his ashes back to his hometown, medieval Visby on the Swedish island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea.

But no sooner does the plane touch down in Stockholm, than the bag with the cremains go missing. A young American named Nick Costa comes to Annika's aid... but can she trust the handsome stranger? And what of Curt Gardiner, another young man from “back home,” also visiting his mother’s native Sweden?

To catch a murderer, recover her father’s ashes, and find a missing Viking treasure, Annika has to put her trust in one of them. But the wrong choice could mean not only the loss of her heart... but of her life as well.

Annika Holst, quintessential shy and retiring librarian, steps way out of her comfort zone when she sets out on a journey from New York to Sweden, her father's ancestral home. It is a bit of a roots journey for her, as her estranged father never spoke of his past. Annika figures she can put her research skills to good use while honoring her father's wish to bury his cremains in the old country.

Unfortunately, her carry-on bag with her father's ashes is stolen at the airport in Stockholm.

Enter FBI dashing agent Nick Costa, who plays good Samaritan while keeping his identity secret. He and his Swedish counterparts are on the hunt for treasure that went missing around about the time that Calle Host (a.k.a. Calle Maggnusson) disappeared from the country. Nick has been on his trail, and Annika's by extension, and is torn between his desire to protect the seemingly fragile woman and his suspicion that she's playing him and the authorities in order to keep the treasure for herself.

Danger in the form of trashed hotel rooms and a dead body makes Annika question not only what she thought she knew of her father, but everyone around her, including Nick.

Jenna's charming characters are a treat to follow, and the mystery will keep you guessing. Throw in the enchanting Swedish island setting and sweet romance, and you'll get lost in this fun and engaging read. Definitely enjoyed it and recommend it to readers who'd like to know if librarians really do it quietly :)

5.0 out of 5 stars true blue November 4, 2012

this author amazes me with whatever genre she tries. This book proved to be what I would expect from her. It's storyline is so very real when you picture the surroundings and the way she does her background work. The girl is innocent and a librarian that is doing what her father requested. Take his ashes to where he was born. She could never imagine the intrigue such a request held. She definitely had to come out of that librarian shell and get a taste of the real life because she was followed by one strange event after the other each place she had to stop. Of course it involved her meeting a guy but not one but two. Was one of them a bad guy or was she just intrigued with both. the suspense mounts and as usual the author knows how to keep you from figuring out the true suspect until the very end. GOOD READING!!! HATS OFF TO THE AUTHOR AGAIN!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read October 21, 2012

Annika's mission to bring her father's remains back to his homeland goes terribly wrong when her carry-on luggage with his remains is stolen. She soon learns of her father's past transgression and his sins begin to haunt Annika's stay in Sweden and Annika will have to trust a stranger to come out of this alive.

This was a good read that had me quickly turning the pages. The frenzy paced story took me on a ride filled with intrigue and romance that I did not want to get off. I loved the way the story flowed from one scene to the next, keeping me in suspense as to what will happen next. With a great narrative, this was very enjoyable romantic suspense drama.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seeking Redemption January 8, 2015

I read this as part of a compilation of romantic mysteries entitled, " Malice, Mischief and Men"" purchased on Amazon

A meek librarian, who hides herself in drab, attends to the last wishes of her dad, who she barely knew. Her dad was born in Sweden and wanted his ashes returned to his hometown and burred upright under the "stone". Her mother, his ex wife, was indifferent as were her two siblings. Dad was not much of one and had paid little attention to his family.

She notices a handsome man on the plane who comes to her rescue when she is unceremoniously pushed on the carousal upon landing, and finds her carry on, with her dad's ashes, has been taken.

She keeps running into this handsome stranger, and, while flattered, feels like it is more than attraction. She has the feeling of being followed, her hotel room is carefully ransacked, so much so, she is not positive it even was, she moves and this room is also ransacked, but like a demon hit it.

Light romance, intriguing mystery, nicely descriptive about the locale and people, the author did a good job of creating a character, I could watch discover her inner strength and come into her own. Enjoyed the book.

I love all the Jenna Bennett books, especially the Savannah Martin series and am eagerly awaiting the next one. But in the meantime I was happy to discover this book and really enjoyed the story of the relationship between the characters and the mystery involved. The locale also was picturesque.
