Not what I expected!, May 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Island Interlude (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I've never read one her novels, but this was certainly not what I expected. I've put the book down after completing just the first four chapters. Although it seemed to be moving at a fast pace, to me it totally lacked any form of depth in regards to its characters. The story line she chose is a good one, and with that I feel she could have expounded more on her characters interaction with each other right from the beginning. As hard as I tried I just could not get into the characters, they seemed so unrealistic. Their words and actions were almost laughable. The only way that I will finish this book is if I have absolutely nothing else to read. If you simply go by the back-cover you will more than likely be duped like me into purchasing it. Don't do it if you haven't already...stop and reassess the situation.

Proceed with Caution!, August 31, 2002
This review is from: Island Interlude (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am an avid reader of romance novels, but it took me at least 3 weeks to read this book. In fact, I stop reading this novel several times to read other books because it just didn't hold my attention. I was actually warned not to read this book, but because I had never read a book by this particular author and because I am not that unforgiving of a mediocre novel I decided not to heed that warning. I must admit that the plot was interesting, but the heroine got on my last nerve she cried about everything and when I say everything, I mean everything, not to mention the leading man Craig has a couple of crying jags too. Also the flowery language between the characters for 350 pages will become annoying if you decide to tredge through this book for example, "your effervescence will take over if my smile should somehow lose its brilliance." I usually don't discourage others from reading a book, but if you are looking for a satisfying read please do not read this book. However, if you decide to ignore my warning, I'd like for you to take note of how much she cries throughout this book and see if the heroine's character doesn't come off as emotionally high-strug and needy. To be honest it has never taken me that much time to read a book and this has made me cautious as to whether I want to read any other works by this author.

Island Delight, September 22, 2002
This review is from: Island Interlude (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sambrea Sinclair has her hands full managing De La Brise. She has been plagued with financial problems that came with the inheritance of her father's small yachting company . She has also discovered that someone with power and money is trying to take over De La Brise. When she meets 'drop-dead' gorgeous Craig Caldwell who literally sweeps her away with his passion she has no clue that he is the person trying to take over her company. Sambrea and Craig have a whirlwind romance which is complicated by the sudden appearance of her mother. It is further complicated by the fact that Craig may have reason's other than love for romancing Sambrea. He claims to have Sambrea's best interests at heart but how can she be sure? Sultry Hawaiian nights serve as backdrop to this love story as the two try to hold on to their love amid mistrust and secrets from Sambrea's past that even she was not aware of.I love the premise of Island Interlude. I did feel that the hero and heroine moved too swiftly at the beginning. Once I got past that I found this to be an enjoyable 'kick your shoes off' and be swept by away fantasy-romance read.
