Review

The imagery is striking, and the story conceptualization is enticing, carefully
crafted, and filled with deceit, jealousy, and an enduring, unconquerable love.

Laurie P- Coffee Time Romance

Tammie Clarke Gibbs has written a time travel that will touch your heart and leave you wanting more,
right up to the end. You'll be turning the pages, never guessing what's going to
happen next. Ms. Gibbs has proven to be an author to watch for."

Patricia A. Rasey, author of Kiss of Deceit and Eyes of Betrayal.

Yes - it's about time travel, yes - it's a mystery, yes - it's a romance, but amongst all this there are dark and strange happenings mingled in with breathtakingly beautiful moments. You are pulled into the story,
and are able to see and feel all the beauty of the old south i
n the 1700's, and then back you come to present.

From the Author

ISLAND OF SECRETS was my debut novel and has received such a wonderful response.
For more than eighteen consecutive months wonderful readers have kept it on three of Amazon's Bestsellers lists.

ISLAND OF SECRETS is not a conventional novel, it crosses a couple of sub-genres and gives readers a first-hand look into the life of some of the characters that are "left behind" when one of the main characters "time travels".

If you enjoy different I think you'll enjoy meeting Lila and Shane.

Shane Alexander, against his better judgment, allowed his ex-girlfriend to spend her honeymoon on his exclusive island retreat and she repaid the favor by running to tabloids with tales of ghosts and supernatural happenings. Now he has to try to salvage both his and Leigh Island's reputation by allowing one reporter, who he will hand pick, to spend a week on his island and write a story about it. Cassie Edwards is a reporter with Coastal Signal and is supposed to go on the junket with other reporters to the island so Mr. Alexander can decide which reporter will stay, but at the last minute she hurts her ankle and can't attend. In desperation she asks her roommate, Lila Fitzpatrick to go in her stead. Lila, under pressure agrees, and before she knows it, finds herself on a small boat heading toward Leigh Island. Little do Shane and Lila realize that what starts out as, what they both hope is a plan to move their lives forward, will change the course of both their lives. Will they be able to bridge the gap between time and solve the centuries old mystery of Leigh Island?

Island of Secrets is a hard book to categorize. Yes - it's about time travel, yes - it's a mystery, yes - it's a romance, but amongst all this there are dark and strange happenings mingled in with breathtakingly beautiful moments. You are pulled into the story, and are able to see and feel all the beauty of the old south in the 1700's, and then back you come to present. The transitions from present day to past flow well enough, though there are a few places where it could have been refined. The mystery is kept going throughout the book, and just when you think you may have solved it, another riddle is thrown your way.

Rarely do I have the time to read for pleasure; however, I came across this title and decided to download it on my kindle app on my phone, thinking that I would read it when I could find the time. I found a few spare minutes over Christmas break and decided to start on this book. Much to my surprise, I could not put it down. I read the entire book, from cover to cover, in one day! This book was that good. In fact, this book was excellent. I love the imagery used in the description of the characters and scenes. I felt like I was actually watching the events unfold. I will definitely make the time to read it again. I hope there will be more from this author very soon.

This book captivated me from the first paragraph! I am a very busy person with little time to read pleasure books, most of my readings are leadership and business books, John Maxwell, Grant Cardone, etc... I wanted to read something for pleasure, the title caught my eye, then the body of the book, OH MY WORDS! The use of imagery, the choice of words and the flow of the story was so perfect! I actually felt I was there with the characters, I slept in that mansion, I heard the waves, I saw it all! INCREDIBLE body structure, suspense was fantastic, thank goodness not your standard "ho hum" formula writing where you know the rest of the story after the first few chapters. Highly recommend. Tasteful, no bad language, skillfully and artistically composed!

I really enjoyed the content of this book. However, it was difficult to wade through the many, many punctuation errors (sometimes one or two on every page), as well as frequent mispelled words. There were even occasions where a sentence important to the storyline seemed to be missing. I hope that in the future this talented author will employ a different copy editor.

At the beginning I was really into this book, it kept me intrigued and couldn't wait to know what was coming next, but then I did get a little frustrated going back and forth to the past and present. So it took me a little longer to read. Bear in mind this is only my opinion and I can't fault the storyline, I just got bored of the back and forth.

You have to read this book, it held my interest to the end! I never knew what was coming next. I am hoping this author will take some of the main characters and use them for a sequel to her next book. I read ALL the time, and many different kinds of books, this one really held my interest..... If you want to escape for a while go to this Island, get a cup of coffee or tea, and sit back and go away for a time travel adventure. Some time travels can be complicated, not this one!! JUST ENJOY..... PIE

Take a modern day journalist, toss in some intrigue and stir it up with some paranormal time travel and what you get is Island of Secrets.

This is one of those books that will surprise you at every turn. A woman who is pretending to be someone else on a mysterious island where nothing is as it seems. Everyone has secrets, including the island. Will anyone survive when the secrets are revealed?

You should really read this book....I guarantee you will have an entertaining visit to the Island of Secrets.

The beginning of the book was pretty good but when it got into the time travel in the same house on a parallel field, I'm afraid I got confused trying to keep it all straight. At one point, I put the book down but was determined I would finish it. I had to go slow, maybe it is just me, but I was having a hard time keeping all the parallel people, times, rooms in order. I would think I had it all in order only to be really reading about the other time.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the plot of this story, I could never have thought of something like the author did, it really was quite intriguing and had a lot of thought put into it. What got me is that it was back and forth and I couldn't keep up with the flow of the story so I wasn't really able to enjoy it, just give it the evil eye.

If it were written in a manner to make it read clearer and flow smoother, to me anyway, I would give it a higher mark. It has alot of potential to be way better than it is.
