A worthwhile, easy-to-read book takes you back to a simpler time. If you're looking for the true historical context of any place, look to the people that lived it. The Author A. Rod Butler gives us a boy's Huckleberry Finn perspective and 'sui generis' insights into what was Barnston Island. What it was truly like, living and growing up in a unique 1930's Canadian rural community. Even today, Barnston Island is an unincorporated island oasis, surrounded by the metropolitan Greater Vancouver sprawl; a small and complete universe unto itself. This book acted as inspiration for "THE FISHING DERBY" my rhyming, bedtime children story, also available from Amazon Books. ASIN: B008BF9ZFM
