Most Underrated Pop/Rock Song of 2007, and The Starting Line's Best, March 9, 2008
This review is from: Island (MP3 Download)
Walking through my local Wal-Mart's electronic section, by the TV which showcases about 15 seconds of music videos, I stopped, instead of the usual drek I hear, I hear an amazing pop/rock song. I ran to the TV as fast as I could, and I see, "The Starting Line: Island (Float Away)." I quickly made a mental note of the song in my head.
2 weeks later, I finally remembered the song, and quickly found and downloaded the song (for this reveiw's purpose, I downloaded it off of Amazon ;). When I heard the full-version of the song, I was blown-away; here was a great song, by a band I had never heard of. Soon after that, I started hearing the song on Alt Rock radio stations. However, it never really caught on, and that's a shame, because beneath the "unoriginality" of the song, was a great, well-crafted, well-put-together song. The verses are great, but when it gets to the chorus, the song rockets off in a fun rockin' mood that I enjoyed immensely. The singer is better than most others in the genre, and again the song is rockin'.
Overall, a fun, great, underrated ride by The Starting Line. If you're a pop/punk/rock fan, pick up this song, it's a great one. For everybody else, who (god forbid!) wants to try something different, you can't go wrong with this song.
