Where did this band disappear to? This is album is solid all the way through. Singer Ringler can carry a tune. In my opinion, he's a cross of somewhere between Robin Zander (Cheap Trick) and Burton Cummings (The Guess Who). He covers the gambit with soulful singing on some tunes, and pop to hard rock on others. It is clear to me tho that this is Beau Bodine's (bass/keyboards/slide guitar & harmonies) band. The bass is powerful and ever-present. It is the force that drives the sound. Words are eloquent and touch lightly on current events, as well as what other rockers sing about... women. "Rubberneck" has a great chorus, "Did you see what you wanted to see - Satiate Curiosity - On the road if you pass a wreck - Don't break your rubberneck". The other song that I find myself singing in the car is "Sweet Potato". Great lyrics - "She's my funky lady, she's my Sweet Potato". Doug Kennedy does a great job with his guitar rhythms & solos. Josh Cedar is a more-than-adequete drummer keeping the beat. The first two songs ("Little Scene" and "Faraway") will have you thinking this is a very heavy band, but the Cheap Trick sound (more rock & pop) is present thereafter. I liked the first two tracks, as well as 11 and 12 ("Sweet Potato" and "Meltdown") - these were the hardest rocking songs. Sound production is clean & crisp. Welcome back to old fashion rock & roll. Would like to hear more from Isle Of Q, but have not found it. I hope they're still together!

Wow. Here's a bunch of guys who know what they're doing. Sounding like Cheap Trick's Robin Zander fronting a Trick/King's X hybrid band, Isle of Q is familiar, yet refreshing. I'm sick and tired of all the banal, inane, and pointless drivel coming out of the modern rock genre, so it's fantastic to hear moderately complex music and quality lyrics. While said lyrics are not always poetry-anthology level, at least they're not just the first rhyming words that popped into someone's head.

As for the music, it's well-crafted, catchy, and highly listenable. (Or to borrow a well-worn phrase, "It ROCKS!") If you like medium to hard rock of any stripe, you can't go wrong with these guys. It's way too early to tell how the lowest-common-denominator radio/video audience will react, but I hope Isle of Q takes off. This kind of quality deserves it.

As a child of the '90s, I find it hard wading through a sea of putrid rap-rock clones such as Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit to get to the music I enjoy. I'm not saying that those bands are talentless, but their main goal is just to piss off the media, and get some pre-pubescent teens to worship them as a deity...not make good music. It's a wonder in this day in age that "old school" rock can even survive. And to help the cause, Isle of Q has risen from the ashes of the '90s and given us a simple, but crushing rock album. These things are hard to come upon. From the first track "Little Scene" you will be amazed to how good the quality of music that is contained within. And the songs don't get tired out from being same (another problem with music today). So if you're ready for some of the old, check this out.

P.S. to the band...consider "Bag of Tricks" for the next radio single...

I have made a point of never listening to current rock and roll ( I don't know if this is the right category) due to its harshness and muddled lyrics with a pounding, headache- producing "beat" but I thoroughly enjoy this group. I have gone online today to buy this for a friend who's turning sixty because I know he'll like it. Since I'm a product of the fifties I look for music of this genre that I can dance to and I think this is it. It takes a great deal of talent and perseverance to make it in the music business today and I think this group is due! I know it will be popular for its demographics but our generation will enjoy it, too! Add it to your collection!

I was so excited by this Isle of Q cd, I had to write this. At my age there is not much new music that excites me. I'm from the original generation of rock.When music moved you and the words gave you something to think about. This cd reminds me of that kind of music. The lyrics are fun and interesting,sometimes serious but never depressing. The music grooves and makes me want to dance. Some songs are a little heavy for me,but overall I don't think there's a bad song in the bunch. This is a cd that my teenage boys and I can crank up and enjoy together. That alone , is worth 5 stars.

isle of q look like a bunch of biker guys willing to pump out a slab of heavy and muddy rock.such is the case with isle of q, as their cd is quite infectious and hooky, with alot of driving guitars and melodic vocals.sadly though, this album just seems better suited for a decade earlier.you will see why when you listen, which i highly recommend you do.a solid cd but just a little late on in the era.

Im a big CLassic rock fan , I like groups like Black Sabbath, the Who, Led zepplin, Boston, Deep Purple. I must say I like the distinctive sound this band has. Simple Sounding guitar riffs, yet Interesting and deep lyrics, very interesting combo and very catchy i must say. This album is very underrated , I can't believe its so cheap to buy. It should be a good mainstream priced item. Maybe they will come out with a new album someday and we can see how they progress.

Recently, in the world of Rock, album quality has been taking a dive. You get a band that has one or two hits then promptly disappears; the albums, in their entirety, are usually bad. While the newly released Isle Of Q may fall into the first category(we'll have to wait and see), it doesn't touch the second. Even if this is the only disc we ever see from them, they'll at least have the satisfaction of knowing it was a good album overall rather than a couple tracks.

The music, on its own, is nothing groundbreaking. However, if you like the Alternative Metal/Grunge genres than this is one disc you probably won't regret buying. The songs don't get repetative within themselves, though if you listen to it all the way through you'll deffinately hear a pattern. What surprised me were the lyrics. Not as deep as some, but nowhere near as pointless(or plain senseless) as many Alternative groups(Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana leap to mind as candidates for the senseless category). Several songs have a Christian influence to them(Driving Nails, Say Goodbye). The nice change is that it's not at all preachy and just about anyone can relate to it.

Altogether, dock it one star for the repetition and another for a lack of originality(music composition), but add one back for the intelligent, insightful(The Clone), occasionally encouraging(Hideaway) lyrics. It's a pretty good album that's even better after being compared to its peers. Enjoy!

Not a "must have", but a "glad I bought it" CD. A mix of Cheap Trick and Creed, this CD does rock. The vocals are far more melodic than most bands of this genre, and that's a good thing here. Too many bands scream for screaming sake, and not to make emphasize a point. The music is a bit simplistic at times, but dark enough and odd enough too keep you listening. The production on it is so-so. Hopefully it will gain them some attention, like the State did for Nickelback, or Fush Yu Mang for Smashmouth and they will be able to truly amaze us with ther second coming. Check out Sweet Potato, Meltdown, and Little Scene.

This cd grows on you after every listen. Melodic vocals to complement the hard driving guitar rhythms. I would label this as "Alternative hard rock." Highlights on the cd are "Little Scene", "The Clone," "Driving Nails," and "Sweet Potato."

If you like U.P.O, Full Devil Jacket, Nickelback, Doubledrive, you will definitely eat this up.
