My Bloody Valentine are the seminal band in the genre of shoegaze, mostly thanks to their 1991 album Loveless.

They were formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1984 by Kevin Shields and Colm O'Ciosoig, but a few years of shifting line-ups and changing sounds didn't bring much success.
