4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome soundtrack, February 2, 2000

This is a great sountrack, equally as great as the movie. I wouldn't recommend buying the soundtrack without seeing the movie, as it's important to keep the music in the context in which it was written. A great CD, even for the twenty-somethings!

Havent seen the film (never released in Australia) but the soundtrack is pure Bacharach/David, quite reminiscent of the 60's stuff they did. For fans this is a welcome addition to a collection. I am sure I could hear references to previous Bacharach tunes in many of the tracks. A lovely album to just sit and listen to..or have on in the background.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bacharach does the business!, September 16, 2002
This review is from: Isn't She Great: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Burt Bacharach wrote a number of scores for films in the 60s and rightly, IMO, won an Academy Award in 1969 for 'Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. 'Casino Royale (1967) featured the stunning 'The Look of Love' performed by Dusty Springfield with lyrics by Hal David. How that didn't win an Oscar for best song is beyond me(it was won by 'If I could talk to the Animals' from Dr.Dolittle that year!).

Anyway, Bacharach returned in 2000 with this lovely score. I haven't seen the film but trust me,you don't need to to enjoy this CD. Track after track of glorious pop/jazz/lounge arrangements of Bacharach's wonderful melodies. Throw in songs by Dionne Warwick and Vanessa Williams, again with lyrics by Hal David, and you have a 39 minute album that I always have a good time listening to.

Some film music fans look down on Bacharach and see his music as elevator musak. That is nonsense in my humble opinion. Bacharach may not have scored that many movies but those that he has done are beautifully crafted and always an entertaining listen.

Nice one, Burt

5.0 out of 5 stars GROOVY!, July 8, 2000
This review is from: Isn't She Great: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I am a fan a Vanessa Williams and when I saw that this soundtrack featured both her and Dionne I was into it and I thought both did an excellent job with their songs. I had always thought Bachrach could do wonders with Vanessa's voice and he did and the songs and other selections were great. I recommend buying this cd because it is like I said in the title GROOVY!
