Great for training on an ISO 9000:2000 system
This is a great little pocket guide for anyone charged with having to train a large staff of employees on an ISO 9000:2000 system. It is written in clear, understandable language that is easily accesible by any employee.

This book is helpful in only the simplest manner. Please do not expect an all informative book. Each section is decribed in only minimal terms. This is only a brief pocket guide.

Not quite a pocket guide,

Mr. Arter and Mr. Russell have both written some excellent ISO 9000/auditing books. This book is not one of those.Based on the Feb 2004 review I thought this was the book I was looking for. I was actually looking for a small pocket guide to provide to my internal auditors. Something that breaks down the requirements of the standard in short simple explanations. This book turned out to be much more basic than that. I'll provide a quote from the book as an example: (Page 13) "List the 10 to 20 processes that are really important. Now write out one descriptive paragraph on how you do each of those important processes in your organization. Keep the paragraphs short and to the point. Next, keeping in mind the PDCA cycle, draw a picture to show how the processes connect. When you bring all of this together, you have a quality manual." (Any typos are my property) Try convincing a registration auditor on that one! This book oversimplifies the requirements to the point that it is only useful as an introduction to a QMS. I doubt that this book would be of any use to anyone with even a slight bit of prior knowledge. |
