Isobel is getting ready for her wedding to Tim, and she's really excited. Tim calls her to the pub 6 weeks before the day and tells her its off. He's feeling pressured and is just not ready to get married, even though they have been living together for years, and it was his idea to get married. They decide to take a break, but still end up seeing and sleeping with each other which is not good for Isobel.

Isobel is unhappy and obsesses over what is going on between them and even breaks into his house. She's messing up at work and finally gets fired, with her kind boss offering her a job in Spain. She realizes she needs a change in scenery.

Once she settles in, she starts having one night stands to make herself still feel desirable. She drinks too much and has blackouts. She even manages to sleep with the office Lothario, even though she knows better, and didn't want to. That's her wake up call.

I liked how colorful the descriptions Ms O'Flanagan gave made me feel I was standing in a cafe in Spain or on the beach in Rhodes. I didn't like how Isobel couldn't comprehend Tim was toxic for her. The end was abrupt with no real conclusion to sort Isobel out. She's as loose at the end as she was at the point where Tim shocked her by "postponing the wedding indefinitely." I had really hoped Isobel would get her HEA.

I recently found out that a short story about Isobel is written in her book Connections. Hopefully it'll answer the question of what happened to Isobel. Happy reading!
