Great product but....., June 22, 2010
I bought 2 of them (one for myself and my wife) I bought the regular size black watch and I am extremely satisfied with it considering the price I paid for it. It serves well and is almost on par with other similar tier watches. Heart rate was detected in within 3 secs most of time. It has regular features like chrongraph, timer and alarm. Additionally, the watch is able to set a high and low heartbeat count with % indication based on your age. However, this function (as I found out) applies only to the BLACK REGULAR model.
My wife's (BLUE SMALL) watch does not have some functions like the timer and the high low heartbeat count. It is able to only detect your current heartbeat count. I am disappointed about this as it wasn't indicated in the sales page on Amazon. And also the instruction booklet that came with it does not indicate this function is only available on the BLACK REGULAR model.
If you buy the BLACK REGULAR model, also take note that setting your maximum heartbeat count based on your age is not instructed in the manual. I found this out by chance when I depress the mode button for about 2 secs when in the heartbeat mode....

This review is from: Isokinetics Inc. Strapless Heart Rate Monitor Watch - 7 Colors - Basic Functionality (Misc.)
regarding the heart rate monitor - it provides a continuous reading as long as the button (on the front) is held down. it takes a free hand to get the reading, so i see less usability while biking, driving, etc. i've noticed it takes longer to read when i am not still. it seems the finger tip needs to be clean and there's a slite better chance of getting a measurement when placing the finger tip closer to the nail instead of the middle of the finger print. i found it frustrating when i wanted to get a reading at a precise moment during exercise; you will find you're going to do a lot of what the manual refers to as "wait and try again later".
when it works, it gets a measurement in about 3 seconds - manual says 3-8 seconds.
the "Percentage of maximum heart rate" functionality basically takes the single heart rate measurement and does a simple calculation based on a maximum set manually or automatically (preset by age).
regarding the clock accuracy - i adjusted it to an atomic clock and after 3 hours it fell 4 seconds behind. i readjusted it and after 12 hours it has fallen behind about 2 minutes 10 seconds.
i'd say this is an excellent product if you're monitoring your heart rate on the couch while watching others exercise on tv, or if you want a loose measurement at random times; otherwise i would not recommend, even though it is fairly cheaper than other options.

Simple to use -- just what I was looking for, April 24, 2010
This review is from: Isokinetics Inc. Strapless Heart Rate Monitor Watch - 7 Colors - Basic Functionality (Misc.)
I recently started a regular exercise program and decided that a heart rate monitor would be a good "accessory" to have. I didn't realize that most of them require a strap in order to get a reading. And, many of the strapless versions are quite expensive, poorly rated, and have too many extras.
When I found the Isokinetics heart rate monitor watch, it seemed the best of all worlds: simple, inexpensive, and small enough to fit my wrist. At $29 with free shipping, it was a real bargain. Less than a week after I ordered it, I'm wearing it and extremely happy.
The monitor/watch fits my small wrist (with one notch to go). The one button testing is easier than having to use two fingers as some strapless watch monitors require. And it works! It uses regular watch batteries that can be replaced for about $5 at most watch repair/jewelry stores if you'd rather not do it yourself.
This was a good buy. 5 stars for sure!
