Though intensely interested in the Middle East problem, the average middle-class Christian American does not fully understand what has taken place in Palestine and Israel during the past 80 years. Israel Is Real is an account of how the Jewish people, against great odds, struggled to create their own long sought independent State of Israel. Israel Is Real answers the questions of why Israel is entitled to the land they now occupy; the Moslems Arabs are enraged with this situation; the English gave up and surrendered their mandate; the Moslem Arabs enshrined the Wailing Wall; the Jews enriched the Arabs; the Jews are endangered; Britain did not endeavor to do their best for the Jews in Palestine; each Arab-Israeli war has had an encore; who engineered the mess in Palestine; and when will all of it end. There is a special Christian affinity for the Jews which is not present between the Christians and Moslems. This likeness with Israel is too great and important not to be understood more succinctly. There is a special enmity between the Moslems and the Jews, and this should be understood more clearly. Much historical data is also included in Israel Is Real, which author Louis Painter believes to be essential to documenting and collating the facts in order to properly interpret the meaning. Israel Is Real is an ideal introduction for Christians on one of the signal events of this century and a "sign of the times" international development. -- Midwest Book Review
