Book Description

Is the crisis in the Middle East hurtling toward the point of no return?
  • Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, tells the U.N. that Iran could have nukes by spring.
  • Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has called for the end of the United States and Israel.
  • Chaos is erupting throughout the region.
  • Rumors abound of an impending Israeli first strike against Iran’s nuclear program.

Is war imminent?

New York Times best-selling author Joel C. Rosenberg looks at the events developing in the Middle East and asks the tough questions: Could Israel launch a preemptive strike at any moment? How might an Israel-Iran war set the Middle East on fire? What should we be watching for? Israel at War will help you understand what is happening right now behind the scenes in this volatile region—and how this high-stakes showdown could affect the future of the Middle East and the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent Conversation October 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
From the depth of his biblical Christian faith and personal and professional relationships with key Israeli, military and other world leaders, Joel Rosenberg is uniquely qualified to help us all think clearly of the threats we face in today's world. This book is yet another conversation about the dangers of a nuclear-armed, and increasingly deranged, spiritually twisted, Iranian leadership. Like his book Epicenter and, more recently, Implosion, this book too is well worth our time.

As a bit of a side note, I found it very striking, and profoundly comforting, to discover that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is now holding regular Bible studies in his home. Even as the angry conversations rage around him and about him, he has a new found appreciation for Sabbath rest and scripture study. He sees the Word of God as central to Israeli life and the entire conversation. His son recently won a national Bible quiz competition and went on to take third internationally. He is quite proud to say his son has now become one of his advisors! While Netanyahu has never been a particularly spiritual man, there now seems to be a fresh openness in the midst of crisis.

Pray for the leaders of Israel - that God would speak and that leaders would listen. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and that Almighty God would be exalted in this constantly fluctuating situation. Pray that God would remove the enemies of faith and peace. Pray that leaders in the United States and the rest of the world would respond appropriately to evil threats. Pray that war would not be necessary.

And pray for wisdom about our own situation - are the lamps of America filled with oil and ready for the coming of the Bridegroom or are we ignoring the signs all around us?

5.0 out of 5 stars Updated, Concise explanation of Iranian Threat. October 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Benjamin Netanyahu, the current Prime Minister of Israel, will have to make a decision that may soon lead to the most devastating war in modern history in the Middle East. Joel Rosenberg, a top expert and consultant on Middle Eastern affairs gives us an inside look at Netanyahu and the decision he faces. Having personally worked with, and for, Prime Minister Netanyahu, Rosenberg is highly qualified to give us an inside look. This book gives us a clear, current, and concise history and explanation of the threat that Israel, the U.S., and the world faces from the country of Iran.

Remember that what really matters is not so much whether Iran is actually engaged in producing a nuclear weapon. What matters most is whether Israel PERCEIVES that Iran is building a weapon that threatens their existence as a nation. Israel has destroyed the nuclear programs of two other nations that they perceived were a threat. Since the likelihood of an Israeli attack on Iran is high, it follows that it really does matter to us what decision Benjamin Netanyahu makes in the near future. What do you think will happen to the price of gas in the U.S. if the Strait of Hormuz were closed, or if oil tankers in the area were threatened? Joel's book helps us understand the man who has to make the decision that will affect YOU and your wallet. Get informed. Read it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing New. November 4, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
If you know Joel Rosenberg, then you really don't need to read this book. There isn't anything that is surprising about his views of Israel and an nuclear armed Iran.

Rosenberg takes us in a close-up trip to the Israeli Prime Minister and how he handles this situation with the Iranians. What this book truly does is give us a better understanding of the man, Netanyahu.

His writing is clear. His knowledge is crisp.

You won't finish reading this book wondering what Rosenberg believes a nuclear Iran will do and how Israel will respond.

He pulls in the United States and the how the situation will implicate us.

This is a fairly short book at only 100 pages so there really isn't much to review because so many people already know Rosenberg from his fiction writing.

This will resonate with people who already agree with his thinking.

i felt that there was more information that is going on in the arab nations than what the media is telling. people need to be informed by this type of media than the media that is broadcast over the air waves. thanks joel, for your inside knowledge of what is REALLY happening to our brethren in the state of Israel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Israel at War November 27, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Israel At War is an extremely timely book. As I was reading it the events were literally unfolding on the national news.

Certainly things are heating up in Israel. As a messianic, Torah Observant Believer in Yeshua, this reality has me alarmed. As an American I have been drawn to my knees frequently that we would be the ally that we claim to be.

Joel Rosenberg gives a great inside perspective of what might be expected if the threat of nuclear warfare is not neutralized soon.

My favorite aspect of this book is how it puts a personality on Netanyahu. I didn't really know much about him and this book gave me a great respect for him and his leadership.

I also appreciated Rosenberg's inserts about the relationship between Romney and Netanyahu. This is information that I had not heard before. I liked feeling aware and having this extra knowledge about their previous relationship warmed me to Romney a bit, however, given the timing (just prior to the elections) at times it felt a bit like propaganda.

I wondered at times if he was simply restating the obvious or extremely perceptive since so much of the content was general knowledge that was happening in live time or on the verge of happening.

The book bounced a bit between time periods and was not always chronological or easy to follow. There was a bit of restating but I think that was probably more for emphasis.

When I began reading this book I new nothing about the Twelfth Imam. Israel at War educated me as it will any reader.

Are you wondering how you can help Israel? So was I.

Here is one brief excerpt that jumped at me:

"The most important thing is to tell the truth." Netanyahu replied. "There is a campaign of lies against us . . .
