Book Description

January 31, 1992
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has generated a vast quantity of documents from many quarters, including a plethora of suggestions for its resolution, and any serious analysis of the conflict demands a thorough familiarity with its documentary history. This collection, compiled and edited by Yehuda Lukacs, brings together documents and statements of the position of parties directly and indirectly involved. The book covers the period 1967-1990. It begins with U.N. Security Council Resolution 242 and ends with documents pertaining to Israel's 1989 West Bank elections proposal, Egypt's Ten Point Plan, and U.S. Secretary of State James Baker's Five Point Proposal for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"...one of the merits of this collection lies in the presentation of such a wide selection of well-chosen documents. Although the historical period covered is relatively short, it is a crucial one that contains several important turning-points. Most valuable is the fact that the selected documents offer several complementary or conflicting perspectives; thus they themselves provide an important part of the context that editors sometimes interject less successfully." Neil Caplan, Journal of Palestine Studies

Book Description

This review is from: The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: A Documentary Record, 1967-1990 (Paperback)
I purchased this book after a student working on a paper with me brought it to our group. This book was quite useful in providing a perspective of how the Six Day War has impacted religious tensions in Palestine through use of primary sources. If you are in need of the primary sources this is a great book for you.
