Book Description

February 1, 2001
'When certain Jews say to Arabs: "Look what we've done for you, we found a desert here and transformed it into a garden," the Arab replies, with good reason: "This may be true, but it was my desert and now it has become your garden."...That is why I say the Arabs must leave Israel...I want to make life difficult for them. I want them to say to themselves: it doesn't make any sense to go on living here.' --Rabbi Meir Kahane

The far right is now a force to be reckoned with in Israel. A plethora of groups -Kach, Tehiya, Morasha, Gush Emunim- advocate the gaol of a Greater Israel and the brutal repression of the Palestinians. These groups represent a growing threat not only to Middle East peace, but to the established political order in Israel itself.

Raphael Mergui and Philippe Simonnot talk to the leaders of the far right about their aims and methods, their attitudes towards religion and the state. In an extended interview, Meir Kahane-former FBI agent, co-founder of the Jewish Defence League and founder of the extreme -right Kach movement in Israel- argues that the Jewish state cannot be democratic, secular and multi-racial, and that the Arabs should be expelled from Israel and the Occupied Territories.

Such men are no longer part of a lunatic fringe. They are gaining increasing respectability and a mass following. They are Israel's ayatollahs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Israel Bashing Should Be The Title!, December 14, 2006
This review is from: Israel's Ayatollahs: The Far Right in Israel (Hardcover)
Fans of Iran's President and other anti-Semites will love this book! The book pathetically tries to equate the right-of-center politicians and religious leaders in Israel with the looneys in Iran. Basically, it's an attempt to once again defame and deface anyone in Israel who is religious.

The book is rife with so many factual errors and misquotes, that you can't help but see that the authors have a personal agenda against anyone who isn't a left-of-center person. The authors acknowledge that much of their information is from "secret" sources. In fact, footnotes are nowhere to be found that backs up their "facts."

Don't waste your time and money on this biased book.
