5.0 out of 5 stars ISSHINRYU KARATE by Steve Armstrong is the Best!, January 8, 2003
This review is from: Isshinryu Karate: The One Heart Method (Paperback)
Truly without a doubt, ISSHINRYU KARATE by Steve Armstrong is the BEST INVESTMENT in the practitioner's martial art library or
anyone who wants to study deep in the historical events as such.
As a matter or fact, I'm so BLESSED to have the book in my possession that I do a lot of review on how Tatsuo Shimabuku
[the FOUNDER of the Art] train, study and all the good stuff down the line. People, let me tell you this: if you find this
masterpiece on amazon.com [that's where I got mine] or where ever, GET THAT BOOK, it's worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A true masterpiece!, December 27, 2002
This review is from: Isshinryu Karate: The One Heart Method (Paperback)
This book Isshinryu Karate: The One Heart Method by Steve Armstrong is all that and then some! I have read the book more than three times to get into the essence of the Founder Shimabuku's way of applying sparring, teaching students, always
willing to pursue the way of Martial Arts excellence, practical direct rapid force that's stressed throughout teaching the System, etc. Professor Armstrong's book links you to the Founder
of the System, some of the best Isshinryu Professors around, explanation of the combining of Goju and Shorinryu Karate systems to compose the lethal synthesized form that works,so on.
Also, now I am a "PROUD OWNER" of this book that is a TREASURE without a doubt about it. So, if you are a practitioner like me in this artform or you're into the study of various Martial Arts,
please get the book, it will be the top-notch investment that you can make. You'll NOT be DISAPPOINTED! Thank you for checking me out.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Isshinryu Karate: The One Heart Method (Paperback)
For the life of me I dont see how people can think you can be an 8th degree black belt in a couple of years .just because you are a tuff kid doesnt make you a master . to be a master in any martial art takes years and years of daily practice and years and years of daily study. just think how long it takes to get out of college you dont get out in two weeks it usually takes three or four years it just kinda makes me sad when a person claims high rank thats only trained a couple of years. martial arts are a deep subject and shouldnt be taken so lightly. people taking martial arts should research what they are doing and forget the ego trip. there is really not much room for the ego in karate training. I think these old boys were lied to and fed candy. I hope I dont sound disrespectful but karate is not big brutes kicking ass and taking names.Remember karate means empty hand. not Chuck kicking ass. in closing my advice to any karate student is to dig deep. dont swim on the top head for the bottom.and I have studied martial arts for 40 years and I am a combat vet of Vietnam I have seen it all thank you ////
