Received the Archos 605 wifi on tuesday. It looked great, the videos and everything. I purchased the plugins (cinema, podcast, webbrowser) on wednesday it was wonderful, downloaded the new firmware, I even tried to convert some Ipod addicted friends to archos. Unfortunatly for me, my archos is no longer recognize by my PC (windows vista) (device not recognized) since Friday. I tried it on a Win XP system but the same thing. (I did the master reset, factory reset, download the drivers on the archos website).
I had the same problem. Follow this: Control panel - Add hardware - Click next - Check I have already connected hardware, click next, then scroll to Portable devices and install or re-install the driver. Windows should recognize your portable device again.
This is not a bad idea but it did not work for my archos 5 Pmt. My computer still didn't recognize the device. However when i closed the other programs i was working with at the time and reconnected it, the computer was able to recognize the device. i hope this works for you all too.
My Kindle is recognized by LINUX. I can load books onto it without problems. Windows is another story! With WINXP is running, My Kindle is an unknown device,a yellow ? appears in Device Manager. What can I do at this point???
I had the same problem on the same problem. ARCHOS is a DIVA it doesn't want any competition on your computer. I unplugged it, reset it. Then I unplugged my printer and rebooted my computer, then connected it back in. Also, we removed the cd that was in the computer before rebooting. It's a pain in the *** but it's such a nice system.
