THE TITLE PRETTY MUCH SAYS IT ALL,
By D. McAllister "MRD" (Somewhere in the Field) - See all my reviews
This review is from: It Just Comes Natural (Audio CD)
Just when you think that George Strait will soon be taking up the rocking chair and disappearing "somewhere down in Texas" he lays another release out there that comes closes to...well...perfection. IT JUST COMES NATURAL is simply marvelous and the title pretty much says it all about arguably the greatest country singer of all time. Nothing goes wrong with this one but then that's an old story with Mr. Strait. Tell me the last time one of his albums went south? In fact, because of his excellence, he seems sometimes to be overlooked. Just another perfect day for George. To overlook this album for any reason would be a mistake. One of the unique things about this offering is it has fifteen tracks. I went back and looked at my collection and discovered that, with few exceptions, George usually sticks to a simple ten. Maybe it used to be superstition for him. Maybe he thought that ten was a lucky number. Whatever the case, I'm glad he went with fifteen because, for the life of me, I can't say which of the tracks I'd leave out if ten were mandatory. Great stuff here. The title track and "Give It Away" are wonderful but, as is often the case with Strait's albums, some of the other tracks become my favorites. In the case of this album "I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore" has quickly become one of my all time favorite George Strait Songs. But then, as I have already noted, every track here is simply splendid. Give a listen. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. THE HORSEMAN

I own just about every GS CD. Every time he puts a new CD out it's a reminder to me why I love country music. His music never fails to put me in a good state of mind. His voice is still as good as ever with a great selection of songs. This CD sounds very fresh compared to his last couple CD's. It won't disappoint - buy it!

Fresh New Music from King George,

I've been a longtime GS fan and have more than half of his albums. After being mildly dissappointed with George's last CD, I wasn't sure about this one but bought it anyway. Boy am I glad I did! What a fantastic group of country songs and George sounds better than ever. The first single "Give It Away" has a unique guitar intro that hooked me right away. A few other favorites are: "It Just Comes Natural", "How 'Bout Them Cowgirls" (this song just makes me smile - I hope it gets released as a single); "Wrapped" (classic GS sound); "Texas Cookin" - just can't stop tapping my feet to this one) and "I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore". There's no filler here - all the songs are good and worth listening to again and again. The musicians assembled for this recording are awesome. Thank you George for such a wonderful CD that I'll be listening to for a long time to come.

He's done it again. I bought this earlier today and after listening from start to finish, I decided he's really the energizer bunny in disguise. Nothing stops him from making great album after great album.

This could be King George's best yet!,

I remember hearing GS for the first time as a radio DJ 25 years ago. To this day, "Unwound" is still one of my favorite songs. I knew when I heard that song, GS would be a success. George has never disappointed me along the way and listening to "It Just Comes Natural" could be his best effort yet.George has never left his roots...never gave in to trends...never departed from what he does best...and that's exactly why he IS the best! I found him singing higher notes on several cuts this time around - something I haven't heard him do in a while. It seemed with his last few projects his voice was more reserved...almost held back. However, he cuts loose on tracks like Guy Clark's "Texas Cookin'" and "Wrapped" which I predict will be a future hit single. The title track is already being released to radio as the next single, but with a whopping 15 tracks, it'll be hard to choose which songs will get the nod for Country radio since they're all so dat-gum good! Here are the songs I feel have #1 written all over them and will most likely end up on your favorite Country station... "It Just Comes Natural" (releasing now as the next single) "How 'Bout Them Cowgirls" (need I say more?) "Wrapped" (in the vein of the GS classic "Unwound") "A Better Rain" (best listened to on a dark, rainy day) "I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore" (could be one of the greatest GS songs ever!) Honorable mentions: "He Must Have Really Hurt You Bad", "What Say" and "One Foot In Front Of The Other" Counting "Give It Away", King George could end up with six possible #1 songs if MCA decides to release the best on this project. (Has that been done before?) You will NOT be disappointed...buy it now!!!

His Best CD in 10 Years,
By
This review is from: It Just Comes Natural (Audio CD)
Something strange happened about ten years ago...after "Carrying Your Love With Me". The ultimate country superstar, George Strait, started putting out inferior quality CDs. They might be good for a hit or two, but were very forgettable. You would spend your money expecting to get a thoroughly good record, but all you got was a couple of good songs. This CD is completely enjoyable. Aside from a couple of cuts, bringing it down to 4 stars for me, this is his return to greatness. Best songs are the title cut, Wrapped, Come On Joe, How Bout Them Cowgirls and A Heart Like Hers. This CD is easily six or seven singles deep for country radio. Glad to see he has not lost his touch!
