I know of Shannon Grady from a podcast and from listening to bits and pieces of his singing on the internet. When he announced that his CD's were going to be available on Amazon. I snagged this one pretty quickly.
I have to say that at first listen it struck me as pretty good but an amazing thing happened over the course of the day. The songs stayed with me. I am humming the songs and thinking about the lyrics. It makes me wonder what happened with each song that sparked him to write them. If anything they are almost too personal in nature because I want to know what is going on or what happened or even who are they about. It seems to me that there is much more going on with each song. But isn't that the mark of music? Shannon has a remarkable voice that has textures to match the mood of the action. A few songs show some real emotion and some energy and they make me think he could really rock if he had a mind to. Good album with good songs! If you like acoustical type alternative music, give this a shot! |
