About the Author

Declan Finn lives in a part of New York City unreachable by bus or subway. Who's Who has no record of him, his family, or his education. He has been trained in hand to hand combat and weapons at the most elite schools in Long Island, and figured out nine ways to kill with a pen when he was only fifteen. He escaped a free man from Fordham University's PhD program, and has been on the run ever since. There was a brief incident where he was branded a terrorist, but only a court order can unseal those records, and really, why would you want to know? It Was Only On Stun! is his first novel

This enthralling tale is an action-packed mystery that takes place primarily at a science fiction convention in New York. The novel is focused on a multi-talented security specialist who is hired to protect a science-fiction actress from her political enemies. Throughout the story, Finn does an excellent job of reminding the reader of the tremendous amount of ethnic and religious intolerance and hatred that exists in our society. However, the drama of the story is often made lighthearted by the author's perfectly timed comic quips and witticisms which can make even the most stoic of readers smile. The story is easy-to-read and once started, very difficult to put down. I highly recommend this enjoyable work. Add a "star" if you are either a science fiction fan or have lived in Queens or Long Island and can appreciate the author's commentary on the local neighborhoods, celebrities, or media.

It isn't often I run across a book that keeps me in stitches and on the edge of my seat. Declan Finn's, It Was Only On Stun is that book! The story is filled with hijinks, hilarity, seriously deranged terrorists, a multitude of off the wall Sci Fi fans at the C Con ....and Sean A P Ryan & Associates. Ryan is my kind of hero, flawed and deliciously trained to kill.....I was enthralled with the non-stop action that ensued throughout the book. If you like action adventure with off the wall hilarity....this book will satisfy like no other! Highly recommended!

An action packed, nerdy romp though a science fiction convention. A dense and wild ride through the guts of a con, chased by terrorists, drug dealers and the occasional insane assasin. If you have a pet fandom, chances are you will find a reference here. Expect to see some familiar faces who are entirely fictional. Test your wits against a kaliedscopic reference chanel that brings actual fen into the fray. Lush setting, vivid characters, and more action than you can shake a stick at. A twisting and turning plot that brings everything together in a neat package.

I had a lot of fun reading this, but toward the end (which kept retreating) the book felt really long. However, if you have always wanted to attend a con that goes on forever, this is your book. Lots of sly references to TV shows and people we love or love to hate.

If there exists a James Joyce of popular culture or a David Lodge of science fiction fantasy, Declan Finn must be he. This novel pokes fun at action heroes, terrorist policing, conventions in general and sci-fi conventions in particular, American higher education, and notorious contemporary celebrities. This is where the book is at its best.

A reader versed in popular culture would no doubt see even more learned allusions than I did, but no matter. The quirky humor makes it fun for any reader.

It Was Only On Stun! is a fun read. It's action packed and hilarious. He hits on every fandom, from Star Trek to Harry Potter. My favorite character is Middle Earth's Most Wanted Elven Assasin.
