This is an Italeri 1/24 scale plastic model kit. Molded in chrome, black, red and grey plastic, this Western Star heavy rescue vehicle of the Los Angeles Fire Department is one awesome kit. Large trucks cover the US roadways and occasionally find themselves in in disastrous situations, needing fully equipped breakdown and rescue vehicles to get them back on the road or to clear an accident site. The L.A. Fire Department Recovery Truck is a typical, yet specific example of these rescue vehicles. Equipped with numerous compartments on the flanks of the vehicle, they carry the materials and tools needed to get the job done. The big, rear hydraulic tow bar can be called in when repair isn't an option. Inside the cab are highback seats for comfort and an ergonomically designed dash for efficiency. Italeri's kit is over 14" long and features the 470 HP Caterpillar Diesel engine and the tilts 90 degrees for full access to the engine. Nothing has been left out in this amazing kit. Exceptionally detailed tow bar, suspension, cab and engine compartment are a modelers dream. Chrome, chrome and more chrome abounds in this model, including dual exhaust boxes an pipes, twin chrome fuel tanks, bumper, wheels, grill and more.
