5.0 out of 5 stars Very, very good.
Definitely a keeper, one of my favorite Grahams, and by far the best in the "Brides of l'Amour" trilogy (Frenchman's love child, Italian boss's mistress, Banker's convenient wife).

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok but could be better.
I was disappointed.
She needed a backbone... so once in a while she could have said "to hell with you" to the hero & ACTUALLY MEAN IT.
There are some Lynne Graham books which I really love and this isn't one of them. She needs to portray these women as strong, independent women who could actually put up a fit.

Definitely a keeper, one of my favorite Grahams, and by far the best in the "Brides of l'Amour" trilogy (Frenchman's love child, Italian boss's mistress, Banker's convenient wife).

Pippa is not your typical Graham heroine. For a change, this one did stay in school, graduated from college with flying colors, is not in debt, not a single mother, and has a career that's not built on good looks. Now that's at least refreshing. :-) For good measure, Pippa grew up with self-absorbed parents, and in consequence is rather sweetly modest and pessimistic about her own worth.

Enter gorgeous billionaire new boss Andreo D'Alessio. He makes insensitive remarks re: Pippa's untidy looks as depicted in a company group-photograph. Bang! there goes Pippa's promissed promotion. To save face, she goes through a Cinderella makeover, has a couple of drinks and shows up at the new-boss welcoming party. And... she misidentifies Andreo. Well, Andreo's besotted with her, and they get along like a house on fire. But how's Andreo going to keep her when morning comes and Pippa drops the Cinderella act... and figures out who he really is?

Well, this book has intelligent writing, complex characters, unpredictable turns and a lot of humor, which is what Graham does best. The hero is simply to-die-for -- decent to the bone (though definitely a playboy and a fighter, he doesn't ever act like a jerk towards the heroine). Highly recommended, definitely one of Graham's best.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love this book., January 13, 2004

This review is from: The Italian Boss's Mistress (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one the typical books from Lynne Graham. Billionaire hero and the ugly duckling heroine meet and feel mutual lust for each other. She thinks that the hero is in love with her body but not her. She leaves after she finds out that she is pregnant, and he follows. When he finds out about the pregnancy, he insists upon marriage. The hero and heroine admit that they both are hopelessly in love with each other at the end. This book is very funny in my opinion. The heroine is very quirky, even though her self-esteem is on the low. The hero is very protective, and he does little gestures that are very romantic. If you like one of those stories where the heroine is a swan-in-disguise, then this book is perfect for you.

Ms Grahams ''s books always manage to contain a measure of humor, and human clumsiness. I enjoyed Tabby and now, Pippa very deserving heroins not wishy washy and have some spine.

Jac. Baird's guys go WAY over the top and would need majoy groveling before being accepted back into the fold. And I still might want to see some humilliation!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great Lynne Graham book!, March 30, 2004

This review is from: The Italian Boss's Mistress (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
Who can resist a 6'5" drop-dead gorgeous Italian billionaire? Our heroine tries to and even leads him on quite a chase in her attempt to resist him. But to no avail as she subcumbs every time he puts his gorgeous hands on her. The love scenes are incredible and the hero and heroine sizzle when they're together. I love this book!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite as good as The Frenchman's Love Child, January 6, 2004

This review is from: The Italian Boss's Mistress (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have read just about all of Lynne Graham's books and was disapointed in this one. The heroine bugged me.If you're a big Graham fan, like me, you'll get this one anyways. I did like how the heroine was gifted in math and helped the hero's nephew with his math. I really liked her other recent book, The Frenchman's Love Child, much better. I would also suggest other Graham books like A Spanish Groom, Tempetuous Reunion or Fiery Baptism.

4.0 out of 5 stars heroine not such a doormat, October 10, 2011
This review is from: The Italian Boss's Mistress (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
Tall & dowdy-dressing financial account expert is shocked to realize that her perfect-fantasy man she gave her virginity to after just meeting each other at her company party the night before is actually her boss whom she openly criticized. Playboy Hero won't accept that all they have is a 1-night stand & seduces her into changing her mind. They have a secret office affair. Heroine knows that Hero only does short-term flings & plans to end it soon when she gives her resignation & travels to France. Her plans come sooner than expected when Hero cancels their lunch plans & instead takes his gorgeous GF out to lunch.

This has Graham's writing formula that works for me: good romance/dialogue/pacing/emotional involvement, likeable characters, & sizzling sexual chemistry & love scenes. Heroine wasn't a doormat but was docile at times. She was aware of it & attempted to be more assertive with Hero, although her way of asserting herself sometimes was in secret (i.e, not informing Hero of her plan to quit her job at his company & travel to Europe). I liked that she didn't accept his marriage demand after he found out she was pregnant. She was already planning on raising the baby by herself b/c she wouldn't take him in her life without love. I liked H's realization & admission of his mistakes (i.e., not breaking up with his GF sooner & instead making heroin think he was only using her while his GF was away). He was contrite & I believed in his promise of fidelity.

Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick read...., May 4, 2011
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book was a quick read for me. Story moved fast and kept the reader entertained. Story is about Pippa and Andreo. Due to a misunderstanding, Pippa loses out on a promotion at work and she blames her new boss, who she has not met. As a rebellion to her job and co-workers, she gets dressed up and transformed from frumpy to yummy, and attends the welcome party for their new boss.

Pippa felt weird when she was garnering so much attention from the men, but especially from this very tall and attractive Italian that must be working with her new boss. Andreo couldn't help his attraction towards this beautiful woman that worked for him and didn't know who he was. He didn't care, he wanted her now and then he would explain to her who he was. Pippa decides to follow her urges, she has never been with another man before and couldn't help how she felt about Andreo. When he finds out she was a virgin, that didn't stop him, he wanted her even more and wanted to brand her as his.

The next morning, she goes to work and realizes the man she slept with was her boss. After some groveling, she forgives him and they continue their relationship. Pippa was looking forward to going to lunch with him when he cancelled and said he had business to take care of. She sees him walking out with an old girlfriend and in a fit of jealousy, hurt and betrayal, she quits her job and packs up without saying a word. Andreo kept trying to contact her with no success until he finally tracks her down in France. Things become more complicated when she finds out she is pregnant.

Emotions ran hot and then cold, emotional turmoil. Both characters were flawed and made mistakes, but at the end of the story, it was nice to see them work through their issues and misunderstandings to achieve their happily ever after.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite!, December 26, 2010
This review is from: The Italian Boss's Mistress (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is by far my favorite book from the Presents' line and by Lynne Graham.
This book kept a great flow and was entertaining from the first page.

Both characters are relatable and story isn't far fetched.

Thank you Lynne for writing this!!!!

I love Lynne Graham, and this book is my favorite.
I've read all the presents line since 2000ish and this one knocked my socks off.
I'm still waiting for another book to come along and replace this favorite!
