This is a wonderfully complete and detailed book, written by a person who knows iggies. If you are thinking of getting an IG or have one or more of the little precious furry creatures, then this is a must book. It is not a fancy book with glossy pages full of color photos. But it does have a good deal of photos, mostly black and white, of a number of IGs. Most of the photos are of iggies being shown at a dog show, but many many others of the precious sighthounds in all types of places, doing a lot of different things.
There are chapter after chapter of interesting discussions on a wide variety of issues and events that could occur during the life of an Italian Greyhound. IG parents are a special group of individuals - you have to be to live with an iggy or two or three or more. They are like potato chips - you can't have just one.
I wish every breed had a breed book as thoroughly researched and well done as this one. Lilian Barber knows and loves Italian Greyhounds, has bred them for decades and is a respected AKC Judge. The breed information is accurate, the photos are wonderful, and she has others in the breed share their individual expertise with the reader. This book should be on every IG owner's bookshelf and should be required reading for anyone who wants to own an Italian Greyhound.
This is the latest edition of one of the most comprehensive books regarding the Italian Greyhound. It discusses the breed standard in depth and includes pictures of many of the champions out there that are the foundation of the breed.
I've been waiting for an Italian Greyhound rescue to come my way for a while now, but while I wait I've picked up a copy of this book and have learned everything there is to know about Italian Greyhounds. This book is packed with photos (albeit in black and white), diagrams, and more information than I could ever need. If you are an Italian Greyhound lover, a future or proud owner, or even someone trying to get into competitions this book will be very helpful. The only drawback of this book is the tactile feel of the pages (the paper feels cheaper than you might expect) and the black and white photos. You'd imagine for the price that the photos would be in color and that the pages might be glossy, but what the book lacks in its more superficial characteristics, it makes up with superb content. I expect that this book will stay with me for many many years. Cheers to Miss Barber for this A-Z text!
This is a very informative book for lovers of Italian Greyhounds, whether your interest is in IGs as a pet, show dog, or breeder. Lots of info on specifications, training, and health. Nice photos, though all black and white.
