Moving, Powerful, Magnifico! (Revised Review), March 26, 2005
Patrizio Buanne's debut album, "The Italian", backed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, is more than outstanding, and full of surprises. You can tell by Patrizio's vocal styling who his influences have been. With a powerful voice similar to that of Engelburt Humperdinck, Patrizio also has Elvis Presley's vocal quiver, Jerry Vale's timing and grace notes, and the high-noted cry in his voice that Tom Jones use to have.
About his songs:
"Il Mondo" is the hit on this album. With it's dramatic orchestral opening and Patrizio's soaring emotional vocals, you only need to hear it twice, and you're hooked. Be sure to see the music video that's available at his official website.
"Amore Scusami", has almost the identical orchestration and arrangement as Jerry Vale's hit version and is superbly sung by Patrizio, with some nice grace notes, and lots of powerful high notes all the way to the end. Gotta love those high notes!
"Parla Piu Piano is the Italian version of "Speak Softly Love" from the movie "Godfather". Patrizio does a nice job, very moving.
Both versions of "Man Without Love" are superb, but in the Italian/English version he hits a very dramatic high note at the end of the song that will give you goose-bumps. The song really brings out the "Engelburt" in his voice. Sometimes the music video is available at his website, a real treat to see.
"Che Sara" almost sounds like a gospel song, giving Patrizio a chance to show yet one more of his vocal talents.
I love the song "Come Prima". Patrizio makes it very catchy and danceable. And again, an nice dramatic high note at the end.
"L' Italiano" shows even more of Patrizio's wide range of vocal styles. It starts out slow and easy, then gradually builds to a full swing/jazz Italian number. You can tell that Patrizio enjoyed recording this song. He even growls out a couple of notes in all the excitement and fun of the song. This is a song you will set your CD player to repeat.
The biggest surprise on this CD is the unbelievable job that Patrizio does with "Home To Mamma". It's actually "Funicula Funicula" with new and fun lyrics co-written by Patrizio. He pulls out all the stops, and suddenly turns into an opera singer just this side of Mario Lanza! His powerful vocal artistry combined with the Philharmonic Choir, makes this song a goose-bump giving hit. I love it!
"Alta Marea" is the Italian version of "Don't Dream It's Over" by "Crowded House". Patrizio combined with the orchestra horns makes the song a truely romantic masterpiece.
A nice light and airy addition to this CD is "On An Evening In Roma". It conjures up thoughts of and Italian sidewalk café, lovers talking and sipping wine.
I look forward to Patrizio's next album and hopefully a DVD. His interpretation of the Italian and pop standards of the 1950's and 1960's are a treat to behold.

Five stars is not enough! Try Ten!, February 7, 2006
I bought this CD because Il Mondo is my favorite song of all times and there are two tracks with the song on this CD. This version is spectacular! The sound is incredible, very high quality with beautiful arrangements. All of the tracks on the CD are familiar Italian classics, so well done. Patrizio Buanne has a new fan in the U.S. I love it so much I'm going to buy one for my sweetheart for Valentine's Day. It's very romantic music. And I guess I had better order another for myself, because I'm wearing it out playing it in my car.
