We bought this tomato press for use with making Blackberry Jelly. It was much easier to render the juice from the berries than using a food mill. We were able to convert 4 quarts of berries to Jelly, completely jared and ready in 2 hours. Of course we think this product will work well with other types of berries and we are looking forward to making tomato products with it. It was very easy to clean. The only minimal problem we saw was some of the juice did run back through the handle but this was minimal. We also found the machine was a much cleaner operation and much easier on our hands. I would buy this again.

Purchased this item to process garden tomatoes because I hate processing by hand. A few cranks and I had puree for making sauce. Seeds and skin out one side...good stuff out the other. Highly recommend for Faux Cooks like me :)

Piece of plastic junk,
This review is from: Italian Tomato Press
Like the title says, piece of plastic junk. I went to make home made tomato sauce. I sliced up half a dozen Roma tomatoes, put them in the press, cranked the handle less then a dozen times, and the handle snapped. Piece of junk, stay away!!!

I have already used this press to make pasta tomato sause and Jam. The suction cup seems to hold the unit in place securely. As to durability, I will have to further evaluate. The side dispencer could be as bit longer for larger bowls(some spillage). Make sure your tomatos or fruit are Well SLICED & RIPE before pressing.

that picture is not a true picture of the results. it shows puree in that container. so not true. if you want soup this is the product to use. of course, if you want puree, it is not the product to use. i was so disappointed. did not use until my time to send back was up due to moving.
well, again, stay away from this if you want to puree tomatoes.

I've always borrowed my friend's Tomato Press just like this one. Had to buy one for myself. It works GREAT! Don't waste money buying a more expensive one. This one is perfect.

This product is a time saver. It took a little getting use to but its much faster than the way I was doing my tomatoes.

My wife and I recently started a bigger garden and had lots of tomato's to can. The tomato press was introduced to us by our son. We order one and have used it a lot, it is great and has save us lot of time. It sure has made canning a lot easier for us.
Thanks, Frank

I am very pleased with my new Italian Tomato Press. It is the best invention since sliced bread. It's lightweight and easily storable when not in use. I enjoy making my own sauce beginning with the tomato.

This works great with cooked tomatoes though perhaps not with raw judging by the one star review. I just quarter them & boil them down with some salt and a little basil, cool them and then put them through the press - delicious tomato sauce comes out one chute while seeds and skin come out the other. I am left with fabulous tomato sauce with very little effort.
Update: a year later I have now used this press many times and am finding it harder to get it thoroughly clean each time I use it. I put it through the dishwasher for the first time recently but it still doesn't smell totally clean. Some tomato bits must be stuck down where I can't see or reach them. |
