Gave the as a christmas gift to the girlfriend. Have to say she loved it and sat there for 10 min giving it money. Only downfall is that the cat is made up of a head and an arm. Wish it would have a body or a little more to it, easy to see all the mechanics working inside. Oh, and it is a little noisy with the motor spinning away.

All in all. A great buy.

I received this product in a very timely manner, and it is very cute. I put batteries in it and turned it on, but when I placed a coin on the fish plate, it meowed in a slightly demented way (meoowowowowowow) and did nothing. I tried changing to fresher batteries, different coin sizes, different positions of the box and nothing worked. Finally I returned the item for failure to make it work.
I am ordering another with hopes that it will work, because it is a very cute idea, but if it does not work then it is worthless.
I hope you have better luck with this product.

It is what it is. You put a coin on the spot, press it, and the cat grabs it. Works better if you have a real cat to play with it, but having a girlfriend/boyfriend works if you don't have a cat.

This was not in working order when I received it. It is very poorly made, but it would have been cute if it actually worked. I returned it.

I love this piggy bank and have for some time. I had my eye on it for what seemed like forever. So when I finally decided to purchase it using some of my Christmas money, I thought it would be the best choice I ever made. Not true. While it was super cute and fun to watch the paw come out, there were some flaws in it.
First, it's just the cat's head and paw. It's still cute, but from an angle, you can see inside and see the motor/other stuff.

Second, it's kind of noisy. Or, at least, mine was. When I would hit the button, you would hear the cut "meow" and then the sound of the motors would start, then stop as the flap opened, then start again as the paw came out and swiped the coin away.

Third, the coin problem. Mine wouldn't grab anything smaller or lighter than a nickel. So I was limited to nickels and quarters. Dimes were out, and I think pennies worked some of the time.

Fourth, the flap itself. When I took the cat out of the box, the flap came down and you could reach in to touch the cat. I feel like that should have stayed shut instead of opening. It seemed like that would cause it to fall off or the springs would get loose.

Fifth, the storage bin is small. It can't hold a lot of change, so it's like you have to have a couple in order to get a real storage of coins going. But then again, it would be cheaper to buy another kind of piggy bank that doesn't break...leading me to my sixth point.

Lastly, mine stopped working after a week. I came home from college one weekend and was so excited to show my sister how it worked, but it didn't work until I picked it up off the table and pushed it again two more times. Then the paw came out and grabbed my coin. The next day, it stopped working all together.

I will have to buy another of these soon as my cat has beaten it half to death. I call it her "little friend." She hits the button, waits for the paw to pop out, then attacks it. I've had it for over a year and it still works despite daily abuse from my cat.

This was a great little gift for my daughter. Unfortunately I was disappointed. I selected the Coin Bank to match the same coloring of my daughter's real cat, only to find that it was a grey cat not an orange tabby as shown in the photo. The box was smaller then expected, which was mentioned in a couple other reviews. Regardless, this is a novelty item, and my daughter loved the gift, therefore I gave 4 stars. PS... the real Cat doesn't quite know what to make of the bank.

Arrived in open box and the cat inside was dark grey. The lettering outside the box is in English instead of in Japanese and the sound of "meow" is distorted and scratchy. Is this because this was made for US export? Even so, they should have correct picture on the ordering page and the completely wrong colored cat is unforgiveable. Makes pretty loud noise but expected. I wish at least the "meow" was clear enough. I can't recommend it to anyone, at least not from this seller. This has been around for more than 2 years and it's not worth the money they are charging.

Description says Shipped straight from Japan? I doubt it. But my daughter decided to keep it anyway so what can I do? At least Amazon CS offered to give me partial refund for it so I guess I can't complaint much but buyers be aware.
