An unfortunate traveller,
This review is from: The Itinerario of Jeronimo Lobo (Second Series) (Hardcover)
Lobo was a missionary who went to Ethiopia in the 17th century and had so many misadventures that one almost disbelieves his account. Everything that could possibly go wrong did go wrong, with the exception of death. He ran afoul of hostile natives, wild beasts, storms at sea, misery in the desert, you name it. Somebody would do well to turn this into an historical novel.
