Book Description

September 15, 2003
Wyatt Webb is the creator of "The Equine Experience". This unique form of therapy blends horse sense with common sense. Wyatt uses the horse as a metaphor, explaining that how you relate to this animal will tell how you relate to all living things, hence the title "It's Not About The Horse". Using this analogy and case studies Wyatt shows the reader how to understand what they have learned over the course of their lifetime and explains how to examine what works for or against them. Wyatt then goes on to explain, drawing from his own life experience how anyone that wants to grow and really know who they are must travel through uncharted territory, the only place where you learn anything.

About the Author

Who is Wyatt Webb? He is a native of a 250-person town in rural Georgia who survived two decades in the music industry as a country singer who toured the country 50 weeks a year. Realizing that he was practically killing himself due to a drug-and-alcohol abuse problem, Webb sought therapy, which led him to quit the entertainment industry to study methods of therapy. A job at his original rehab center in Nashville led him to become the head of the juvenile treatment program at Arizona's famed Sierra Tucson facility. Eventually Webb would become one of the most creative, unconventional, and sought-after therapists in the country. He is a man whom people flock to see, and one whom corporations hire to solve their people problems. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars A no-nonsense, refreshing & useful approach., June 27, 2005

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased Wyatt Webb's book after listening to him on Hay House radio. This is not one of those new agey books out there written by people who don't really tell you how it is. You won't get lots of gooey talk and Ego stroking telling you that all you have to do is think positive.

Wyatt Webb deals with real trauma, and other people's pain. His experience is authentic, raw, tough, and shows tremendous courage in hitting rock bottom, climbing out, and then voluntarily using his gifts to help others.

As an adult child of a recovered alcoholic & parent with a rare narcissitic personality disorder, I highly recommend Wyatt's book because the one thing adult children of abuse needs is security - confirmation that the bad stuff did happen, and life is not all roses. If we don't have acceptance, we continue the pathologically closed loop that allows us to turn a blind eye to further injustices being perpetrated.

The world is an awesome place, and our birthright is to be powerful, focussed, and creative in our lives. Overcoming fear and self-doubt, which Webb says almost always is sourced from trauma, has to be good for you.

A great book from someone who knows firsthand of the challenges some of us have to overcome, and I would recommend it to anyone that wants to take their fear head on to permanently release it, instead of allowing it to unconsciously rule you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful and Inspiring, January 12, 2003

I loved Wyatt Webb's book. I had the pleasure of meeting Wyatt in person at Miraval, purchased the book there (actually it was purchased for me by a friend), and read the entire book on the plane ride back home to Chicago. I found the book to be interesting, informative and most of all inspiring; offering useful tips on how you, too, could change your life. I also think that the review that criticizes Wyatt for "taking all the credit" for equine therapy is unfounded - in no way does he state or imply that he is the sole or only practitioner of this type of therapy. This book is simply the VERY INSPIRING story of his life, including the role that equine therapy has played in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the most profound books i have ever read, November 20, 2002
By A Customer
i was fortunate enough to take wyatt's equine experience at miraval. 3 hours together with wyatt did more for me than 6 years of therapy. it was truly amazing. who would have thought that grooming a horse would tell me so much about the way i live my life. but as wyatt shows, the way we do anything is the way we do everything.

for those of you who can GO TO MIRAVAL for the WYATT WEBB INTENSIVES, i HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to BUY THIS BOOK and GO there. for those of you who cannot, YOU SIMPLY MUST BUY THIS BOOK. it WILL help you CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

all of us live with fear and self doubt and those two emotions cripple our ability to live the life we want to live. the stories in this book are real. the transformations miraculous. i have seen them. they have happened to me in my own life and i have seen them happen in the life of others. WYATT WEBB IS REAL.

do yourself a favor, BUY YOURSELF a copy of "it's not about the horse" right NOW! and if you have a REALLY GOOD FRIEND, BUY IT FOR THEM as well. they will really appreciate it.

i only hope it will do for you what it has done for me.
