5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Acoustic Project !!!
Brian took a break from his contemperary work to record this excellent acoustic project. Great job on the remastering sounds way better than the old version with new cover art. Highly Recommend!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Advanced Bassics
3 1/2

Guided by inspired homage and classy chemistry Bromberg more than justifies the switch to plug out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bromberg at his best, February 15, 2006

It's funny how some artists can have such widely different styles in different contexts. Pat Methaney's like that; love his small ensemble work, but when he gets together with synthesizers...

Same for Bromberg. He's known first as a virtuoso player of the electric bass, in the manner (if not the style) of Victor Wooten or perhaps Michael Manring- the sort of technically impressive playing that I find emotionally uninvolving. Then there's his "smooth jazz" playing. And last, his acoustic upright bass playing heard here, and on the magnificent "Wood".

When Bromberg picks up the upright, he drops all the virtuoso riffing and scales and focuses on the music, and the result is wonderful. I wish he'd do a lot more like this one.
