A few years have passed since the debut of Christina Milian. Short-lived singles like "From AM to PM" and "Get Away" were at first well received, but eventually quieted down. Throughout the last two years, she has kept things relatively on the low, only just reappearing in 2003's "Love Don't Cost A Thing". It wasn't an Oscar-winning performance or movie, mind you, but it did remind everybody that Christina Milian was indeed still around. Unfortunately, although she is still around, she still has nothing to offer. I must admit she had me fooled with her lead single "Dip It Low". I initially wasn't a big fan of the song, but the alluring hook eventually got to me. And when comparing this single with her earlier ones, it is evident that she has matured. But not enough. Maybe I'm being a little too critical, but songs like "Highway", "I'm Sorry", & "Miss You Like Crazy" start off all right, but then fall flat. The quality of songs is sub par, ranging from the annoying "L.O.V.E.", the repetitive "Whatever You Want", and the semi-pitchy Janet Jackson-esque "I Need More". Some of the production is questionable too; including the surprisingly dull "Diwali Riddim"-esque-"Dark Child"-produced "Get Loose" and confusingly cluttered "Peanut Butter & Jelly". However, below all the fillers, there is one song that shines: the "SWV"-esque slow-jam "Someday One Day". But even with that said, it still cannot redeem anything more than what this album is: a waste of time. Perhaps the only thing "it's about time" for is the learning to distinguish good quality and omitting the bad.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Quite Time..., June 21, 2004
This review is from: It's About Time (Audio CD)
If Christina Milian doesn't find longevity in the music industry then she can blame this album. That's not to say that 'It's About Time' is awful. It's just... well... there isn't anything new and innovative to set Christina apart from all the other 'divas.' Dip it Low is of course the pinnacle of the album. Milian's shimmering, lush vocals and semi-explicit lyrics add maturity to her otherwise childish album. It may sound as though I am dissing Milian's newest studio effort, but in actuality, I wish she would have found a musical niche and stuck with it. Every song on the album is good at first listen, but if fans are expecting to wear this cd out in their car decks, think again.

American fans have waited for more than 3 years to get their hands on a Christina Milian album, and unfortunately, after hearing preview tracks from her self-titled debut, I would have to say her first time out was the real charm. Milian of course has to have guest appearances. Fabolous fits PERFECTLY inside the intoxicating rhythms of 'Dip it Low', but Joe Budden, who consistently appears on two tracks, fails to make his mark with his drunken drawls. His breakdown in the song L.O.V.E. is great when meshed with the 80's beats and Christina's honeyed vocals.

Elsewhere is typical R&B/pop fare. 'Highway' is the ultra-explicit slow jam that Milian can, and most likely will, use to seperate herself from her Disney days. The song is okay at first listen, but is easily skipable thereafter. In fact, besides Dip it Low, L.O.V.E, and the stomp/clap rhythms of Get Loose, Milian provides no consistency and absolutely no innovative, unexplored frontier. It is both unfair to American fans who have waited diligently for Milian's return, and unfair to Milian herself, who is deserving if not trying to be a baby 'J.Lo'

I Really Love This Album.
It's My Best R&B/Pop Album I Have Ever had it.It's About Time is like My Personal Thing. I'm The Biggest Fan Of Christina Milian. And I Love Her From her Debut Album "CM" which was My Best Album Until Now. In This Album, I discover that Christina Milian be more mature than before. And When I See her, I Feel Like she's Janet Jackson of 21 century.
And I just want to show my point of view about this legendry R&N/Pop Album.
1) Intro (5/5)
It's best beginning of her
2) Dip It Low (Featuring Fabolous) (10000000/5)
I Love This Song. Cos It's One Of My Best Christina Milian's Songs. But I Prefer It With S-Word & Lynnash.
3) I Need More (1000/5)
It's Amazing Song. I Love It very Much. It's better THan Rachel Stevens's "Glide"
4) Whatever U Want (Feat. Joe Budden)(50/5)
It's Good One. But Not My Best Song. I Prefer Am 2 Pm"
5) Someday One day (10000000000000000000000/5)
My Best Ballad Song In This Album. I Think That Mrs. Milian Falls In Love. Cos It's a Real Story.
6)Highway (1000000000000000000000/5)
I Love This Song Very Much. It's Like R. Kelly's "Ignition"

My Best R&B/Pop Song After "When U Look At Me"

5.0 out of 5 stars ITS ABOUT TIME THIS THANG CAME OUT IN THE US FOR HER DEBUT!, July 10, 2004
This review is from: It's About Time (Audio CD)
1ST OF ALL, THURRS THIS SO-CALLED "MUSIC FAN" THAT NEVER BOUGHT HER CD CUZ HE/SHE LISSENS TA ROCK! THIS IS A R&B/HIP-POP ALBUM. HATERS = JEALOUSY & ENVY

Intro-
the intro is simply saying its about time she told us about her self and its about time she was back, it is actually a very good intro and wouldve been good if it ad been made into a real track! 5/5

Dip it Low feat fabolous-
You've all heard Dip It Low havent you, you've heard the version when she sings by herself and if you've got cd 2 of the single you wouldve heard the version wit shawna but this version features Fabolous and it is just as good as the other two! his rap is really clever and catchy but christina brill as well and a good vid to go wit it! 5/5

I Need more-
This actually a pop rock song and surprisingly its quite good, very catchy I like the song as I like songs with a rocky edge like this but I can't see this as a single but it would be good as one! It actually sounds a bit like britney i got that boom Boom on the chorus! Plus her song I Need More actually samples rachel stevens glide even though it doesnt say in the credits so i thought i'd point that out! 5/5

Whatever U Want-
This is 2nd single to be taken of the album as it was announced last week, and it is very catchy and very 80's this will do well in my opinion and it is single material, its got a catchy chorus that we will all be singing to soon! Its due out in august! 5/5

Someday Oneday-
For all of you who havent got her first album you won't of heard her singing a ballad and this is and its very good! her vocals are very good and really suit the song the bridge is very catchy and I could see this as a single! 4.5/5

Highway-
Looking at the title you would think its going to be a very funky song but its not its actually a very mid tempo and is quite catchy! I can't see it as a single if it was to be a single it would have to be a new version funkier its still good! 4/5

Get Loose-
This sounds like something that R Kelly has written like snake, I really like this its a real grower loving it! Its got a catchy bridge and chorus and I could see this a single as its quite different don't hear alot of songs like this! 5/5

I'm Sorry-
This song is brill the music really compliments the song with the drums in the background and it sounds like a motown and you don't hear alot of them nowadays! very good can also see this as a single! 5/5

L.O.V.E feat joe budden-
This is very 80's and really cool. joes rap is very catchy and christinas chorus is really catchy and I'm it now while I'm listening to it! Her vocals are very strong on this and really compliments the song. This could also be a single I like it! 5/5

Peanut Butter & Jelly-
this is one hell of a groove and if you listen to this you gotta tap your feet and nod your head! Brilliant this is soooooooooooooooooooo catchy can see this a single most definatly 5/5

Miss You Like Crazy-
the lyrics to this a very good like I MISS YOU LIKE THE SKY MISSES THE BIRDS I MISS YOU LIKE A SONG WITHOUT THE WORDS really good very catchy this could also be a single! 4.5/5

Oh Daddy-
I know if you look at the title of this song you think its gon be about sex but your wrong its actually a very emotional song about how her dad left her when she was young very sad but cannot see this as a single 4/5

Over all this album is brilliant and is very different to her debut Christina Milian. Theres alot of single potential on here and I can't wait to here about the rest of the singles here Is what I think should be the singles!

1. Dip It Low
2. Whatever U Want
3. I'm Sorry
4. Peanut Butter & Jelly
5. I Need More/ I Can Be That Woman

CHRISTINA UR BRILLIANT!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Great.....but worth listening to!, June 15, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: It's About Time (Audio CD)
Christina Milian, a new, young talent proves she has what it takes to stay competitive in today's music industry with the release of her debut album titled, "It's About Time." Milian, along with her unique voice and catchy musical vibes combines hip hop and bumpity, techno beats to bring us a variety of music from all 11 tracks on the disk. When I first bought this album I was highly disappointed but like most albums I decided that it deserved another listen. Here is what I have come up with. Skip the intro...very unecessary. The first single "Dip It Low" while catchy drags on this disk. I would recommend purcashing the European Import Version of this song...much better and worh the price if you crave better versions of this track. Skip songs 3-6, not sure what happened here. Not worth listening to and almost an embarassment to include on an album of this calliber. "It's About Time" lives up to its name from tracks 7-10. "I'm Sorry" (track 7) and "Get Loose" (track 8) will probably make it to the clubs and I would not be surprised to see "Get Loose" released as the second single from this disk....Awesome song! Other than these few highlights this disk comes up a disappointment. If you are not a FAN of Milian, I would not recommend buying this CD. Wait for a better selection of R&B with Brandy's "Aphrodisiac" set to be released June 29th. I hope this review was helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good and fun record, June 15, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: It's About Time (Audio CD)
On her U.S. debut, actress/singer Christina Milian creates an album filled with fun, party tracks and some slower songs to set the mood. The set is not groundbreaking in any sense but still a pleasant CD to add to your collection. The Intro get's you ready for the tracks to come and then goes into "Dip it Low", featuring rapper Fabolous. The single you may have heard on the radio a few times before is a sexual mid-tempo record with good vocals and prodution. Next is "I Need More" which is another one of the album's highlights but not quite as good as "Whatever U Want" which features Joe Budden. "Someday One Day" is a slower song that is just okay. "Highway" is another slow song but still catches the ear for entertainment. However it is a little cliched with comparing sex to driving, still worth a listen. "I'm Sorry" isn't bad, again just okay. After being strung along through this series of slow songs there is the dancing jam "Get Loose" which is another fun record. Next is another collaboration with Joe Budden called "L.O.V.E." which has an 80's dance club kind of vibe to it. Finally we get to the album's best track, "Peanut Butter and Jelly." A fast and sexy song that will get the party started. As we reach the end there is "Miss You Like Crazy" which is on the verge of boring and "Oh Daddy" a track about her Dad who left their family where Christina really let's her guard down and let's the listener into her emotions. Now the album may not be up to par with Beyonce's "Dangerously in Love", it shows much potential so go check out her album, "It's About Time."

3.0 out of 5 stars Could be better, November 4, 2004
By
Chad "nfld" (Newfoundland, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: It's About Time (Audio CD)
first off, i bought this CD cuz i liked the song "dip it low" and had high hopes there would be other good songs like that. To me, that`s the best song on the album. other songs seem to be lacking something, but i`m not saying the rest are bad, I just think she can do better. Christina got a good voice but not the greatest songs to use it on. I find that there are too many ballads and not enough faster songs like "dip it low" and "get loose". I also think she should of only had one song with joe budden, fabolous is a better rapper in my opinion. Here`s what i think of the song`s.

1. INTRO: this intro is okay, the guy in the background should have been left out, sounds weird with his noises. 5/10

2. DIP IT LOW feat. fabolous: 1st single. like i said, best song on the album. The beat is hot and the song well produced. 10/10

3. I NEED MORE: 2nd best song, good beat and music. you just wanna turn up the volume and sing along with this one. 9/10

4.WHATEVER U WANT feat. joe budden: 2nd single. don`t like this one much, it`s ok but not half as good as the 1st single "dip it low" definatly wouldn`t be my pick for the 2nd single. 6/10

5. SOMEDAY ONE DAY: not a bad song, but still lacking something, a little boring to me. 7.5/10

6. HIGHWAY: don`t let the title fool you, sounds like it should be a fast song for a car, but it`s not at all. another slow, kinda boring song about sex. ZZZZZZZ....... 6.5/10

7. I`M SORRY: yet again, another ballad. I dunno why they put 3 ballads in a row! should of spaced them out. This is probably the best one though. it`s more catchy and just sounds better then track 5 and 6. 8.5/10

8. GET LOOSE: Finally!, a fast song! this is a really good song, would be great for the dance bars. The beat is high and the music sounds awesome. 3rd favorite song, although could be tied with "I need more". 9/10

9. L.O.V.E. feat joe budden: as i said earlier, 1 song with joe budden is enough. This song is pretty good with a nice beat, but could be better (in my opinion). 8/10

10. PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY: this is another fast up beat song. the lyrics are not the greatest, but sometimes songs are still pretty good when u can just have fun with the lyrics and let loose. 8.5/10

11. MISS YOU LIKE CRAZY: this is a really nice ballad. very catchy and singable, i can really see this being a single. This and "i`m sorry" are the best slow songs to me. 8.5/10

12. OH DADDY: this is a song about her father, about him leaving the family and starting a new one ect. A good ending for the CD, cool song. 9/10

Overall a pretty good album, just a few not so good songs.
best fast songs in my opinion are...
dip it low, i need more and get loose
best slow songs...
i`m sorry, miss you like crazy and oh daddy.
hope this helped you :-)
Bye.

3.0 out of 5 stars eh...it's ok I guess, September 5, 2004

daninava (Redwood City, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: It's About Time (Audio CD)
When I heard the single "dip it low" for the first time (like three months before it hit radio) I thought it was extremely catchy (may I also metion it was written by the talented teedra moses). Although Christina isn't a powerhouse diva, she has a cute, sweet sounding voice that is pleasant to listen to. I'm so disappointed with this album though. It sounds like something that would be played on radio disney. Dip it low looks like the only major smash on this album. The rest of the songs can't even touch it. The rest of the songs are either decent or pure filler tracks. If you are looking for an ok pop album and are between the ages of 12-17, I guess this would be a good choice. Maybe, I was expecting a little too much from her. Hopefully her next album will be better. I wish her the best of luck.

Good songs (or should i say song?)

* Dip it low (best song on album)

Decent songs

* Get loose
* L.O.V.E
* Miss you like crazy
* highway
* i'm sorry

Crappy filler songs

* I need more
* someday one day
* whatever you want (why is this a single? it's horrible)
* oh daddy
* Peanut butter & Jelly ( if I didn't know what the song was about, i'd think it was a nursery rhyme)

4.0 out of 5 stars " I Need More", June 25, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: It's About Time (Audio CD)
"It's About Time," is Christina Milian's second effort, which pays off with satisfing results. The song "Dip It Low", is what made this record soar and is by far the highlight of the album. It's a club song with catchy beats and chorus.

Infact all the songs on this album are wonderful, some more than others. The base of this album spins around Sean Paul's style of songs, mixed in with her own flavour. It defiantly makes you get up on your feet and dance.

However I was a little dissapointed when some other songs were not on this album. For example there is another version of L.O.V.E without Joe Budden, and is far better. Others include "7 Days," "Down For You," and "I Can Be That Woman," which are great songs that should have been included.

Despite this, this is a must have for any R&B, Christina Milian, or Sean Paul fan.Or just someone who's always on their feet. I have to say that this is one of my favourite albums. I listen to it constanly and I am always moving to it.

So do yourself a favour, get this album NOW.
