3.0 out of 5 stars Next time, fail better
Regarding the alleged "Library Journal Review", I recommend reading the name of the reviewer backwards. A most interesting coincidence ... or is it?

Clearly written and intelligently organized, first-time author Mangiapane makes a substantial amount of information easy to learn and equally easy to retain. For each card, there is a basic concept, a card description enhancing the concept, and interpretations framed in the most commonly asked questions: work, love, money, and the future. The minor arcana (aces through tens) are grouped by number rather than by suit, the more traditional format. This arrangement allows the reader to learn numeric meanings and suit meanings simultaneously. Court cards (pages, knights, queens, kings) often the most troublesome part of the tarot to grasp follow a similar grouping, which makes them much less formidable. Although for beginners, this book also contains information for advanced readers, e.g., runs (three cards of the same type), specific card combinations, and an account of the Fool's Journey throughout the major arcana card descriptions. Highly recommended for all public libraries. Kimberley Robles-Smith, California State Univ. Lib., Fresno Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.

This book makes Tarot clear and easy to understand. The author is well versed in his subject and is very witty and down to earth in his explanations. NO TYPOS!

4.0 out of 5 stars Totally refreshing, July 19, 2005
This review is from: It's All in the Cards: Tarot Reading Made Easy (Paperback)
This is a really refreshing book about tarot. The way Mangiapane writes is not academic and it doesn't have the typical tarot book wording or tone, which I for one, am thankful for.

Although I don't agree with a couple of things in this book, especially when he refers to the tarot of Marseille, this book is great for studiying the RWS, as I really don't think tou can use it with any Marseille Tradition deck or any Toth tradition deck.

All in all, a very refreshing book, great contents, a little annoying on the "you're not a doctor" thing (one time is enough I think). A book in tarot much needed and very welcomed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly wonderful!, May 18, 2005

Wow I was actually surprised by this book. I picked it up just thinking it was another this-means-that prediction manual. HOW WRONG I WAS! I loved it. Not only does John give wonderful sugestions for the way you can interpret your deck; love, money, future, etc, he also urges you to use your intuition. He also gives you a relatonship guide between the cards. But that's not all! It also includes some basic spreads, life and year cards, and some new twists on some old spreads. An excelent resource for a beginer or intermediate, I highly reccomend this book!

It was easy to read and broke things down very well, for the Major Arcana, the Minor Arcana section seems a little hurried, it would have been nice to have as much focus on each of the Minor Arcana cards as was on the Major Arcana cards. But, otherwise, I like the way this book is written, it is pretty straightforward doesn't get too wordy.

This book takes tarot reading beyond throwing out divination keywords and actually portrays the cards as telling a story. Each reading is meant to tell a story of a persons situation at question, and show a natural outcome of the dilema. Out of all the books I have read about tarot, I think this book explains that idea the best. On top of that, the organization of the book is really good, and if I need to look up something really quick, I never have to flip through more than once to find what I need. its a simple, versatile, easy-to-read, and down to earth explanation of the cards and the art of reading them. I give it five stars. But don't take my word for it... *reading rainbow music*

After perusing dozens of books on Tarot, finally here is a book that makes sense! Well organized, straight-forward, and informative, it is far and away the most useful Tarot guide I have ever seen. It imparts common sense, helpful perspectives, and indepth insights, all of which are organized in a logical and easy-to-use format. Although the author uses the Rider-Waite deck, his learning system is easily adapted to other deck styles. If this guide does not help you to learn or improve your Tarot skills, it may be that you should reconsider Tarot and go on to knitting . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars *One of My Favorites*, November 10, 2005
This review is from: It's All in the Cards: Tarot Reading Made Easy (Paperback)
This is one of the MANY books on Tarot that I own. It is very easily readable and has several different topics on which you would read with the cards [Career, Money, Love...]. John looks at all aspects when it comes to reading tarot. He does not try to make this book so hard to understand, like many others do. He also places a portion in the back regarding the numbers on the cards which is very helpful!!

This book is one of my favorites that I tend to grab when I have a hard time. An Excellent read!!
