ENGE IN "2001"!!!,
This review is from: It's All in the Game (Audio CD)
I just received my CD today and must say that I am pleased with this new release. Even if you have his latest which was recorded last year in UK, this one has a few new songs. The version of the title song "IT'S ALL IN THE GAME" is fabulous!! he is sooooo good!! He has been introducing at his concerts the song on the CD which is "MAYBE THE FEELING WILL GO" honestly you will be humming this tune all day long - a song only our man can do!! Engelbert is truly the master of song and this CD is one more for your collection. The "oldies" which are recorded live from UK at his concert in 2000 we always love to hear. I have his video of that concert and it is great. One of his promises to us is that he does give his all and that he does!! Give this as a gift to one of your Enge fans and they will will be thrilled!!! Love it!!

Has this guy always been this good?,

His voice seems to have a new power and emotion that makes the old songs come alive. Especially on the new arrangement of Quando, the drum and sax on that track are so good they would outshine a lesser singer. Englebert does seem to be in his prime, he's singing better than ever, working with great musicians and chosing great material. I wish more artists would put out CD's that deliver the goods like this one does.

Engelbert conveys so much emotion in his renditions on this great new CD! I appreciate Engelbert's dedication by going back into studio and doing the new studio cuts on several songs to make them special for us here in the United States. They all sound better than ever! The new songs on this CD - Its All In the Game, Hopelessly, Maybe The Feeling Will Go, Blame It On The Night and Dancing In the Rain are a special gift to us. Thanks Engelbert - I'm excited and happy for you, much success on this great CD!

"there's always going to be a market for romance",
This review is from: It's All in the Game (Audio CD)
He has earned many awards since his first album - "Release Me" (1966-Mercury Records), from the Golden Globe, including 59 Gold records, 17 platinum albums and various Grammy-Awards. Humperdinck has one of the largest fan clubs - 250 chapters with some 8 million members, not bad for a youngster who started out as Arnold George Dorsey on May 2, 1936 in Madras, India and raised in Leicester, England.Englebert's three-and-a-half octave singing range, smooth style delivery gives each song his personal signature - "RELEASE ME (AND LET ME LOVE AGAIN)", "QUANDO QUANDO QUANDO", "A MAN WITHOUT LOVE (QUANDO M'INNAMORO)", "SPANISH EYES", "AFTER THE LOVING" and "THE LAST WALTZ", recorded live at the London Palladium, London, England, March 9, 2000 - commanding stage presence and clarity of lyrical interpretation make him one of the greatest ballad singers of our time. Of course the stand outs - "DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY" opens with a bang, latin jazz flavor..."IT'S ALL IN THE GAME" a great standard, with a latin-rhythmic tempo, blending with smooth backup singers..."STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT" the classic Bert Kaempfert tune, with disco-trance implants, wonderful and contagious..."DANCING IN THE RAIN" would be a great concert-opener, a touch of rap and Englebert has this down pat. And then there's the highlights - "BLAME IT ON THE NIGHT" with bossa-nova and sensuous lyrics, this is a perfect Humperdinck vehicle..."HOW TO WIN YOUR LOVE" just in time for "Valentine's Day", believable lyrics, still has the power and range to give this our stamp of approval. Hip-O Records and Pat Lawrence, give the fans and listeners another enjoyable experience...if you like this, try - "Englebert Humperdinck - Ultimate Collection" (Hip-O Records 422 844 952 2)...both should be in your collection - Englebert is BACK! Total Time: 69:55 on 18 Tracks...Hip-O Records 440 013 307 2...(2001)

Still The World's Most Romantic Singer,
By
This review is from: It's All in the Game (Audio CD)
When you listen to the classic "It's All In The Game", which had been previously recorded by the likes of singers like Nat Cole, You will conclude that Engelbert still has it, and deserves his reputation as the World's Most Romantic Singer. Only a Singer with the talent of Humperdinck could do a song like "Strangers In The Night", so closely associated with Sinatra, and make it his own with that distinctive style and booming Barotone. Coupled with these standards are live recordings of such Engelbert gems as "Release me", "The Last Waltz" and "After The Lovin". This release comes at a convenient time. It's the perfect Valentine's Day gift, so make sure you order early!

This guy just gets better with age. Hump kicks this CD off with "Dance the night away", a great Mavericks song that has a Latin flavor. He covers a disco version of Frank Sinatra's "Strangers in the night" in which I would challenge you to stay still while its playing. He covers "Sometimes when we touch" and "Its all in the game". He has a lot of songs in the middle of the CD that are mostly ballads and are good. Just when you need a jump start, the last six songs are live versions of his classics and they sound great. The "Last Waltz" live is priceless.

I think this is one of Enges best. His voice is lower and with much more sexiness. I just recently became a Enge fan. I saw him in concert and had to have cds and dvds. I love the mellowness that his voice has now. I listen to this cd every night. I especially like "You're What Love Should Be" A tip. Listen with headphones.
