5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Experrimmumental!
This band does a lot of stuff at once, so they must be really unique and aspeshul! There's a lot of stuff going on in the album art, so you can tell this is RANDOM and WACKY like my Invader Zim DVDs XD. You could errantly tune through radio stations and get the same effect, but Century Media respects your intelligence enough to know you'd rather buy this instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars It is a fad, and it will pass
That's really all there is to say about this band, and the others like them; hipster "metal" for guys in their sister's pants.

I won't go the route of the caveman shouting about RAR TRUE METAL; that's not the point, the point is that this isn't interesting, fresh or new; they're not doing anything that Mr. Bungle or Circle Takes the Square did before them...

4.0 out of 5 stars It's Not All Happening Just Yet, August 3, 2009
This review is from: It's All Happening (Audio CD)
Since there is singing on this Cd, It's All Happening reminds me of Tori Amos, the only difference is that the vocalist in Iwrestledabearone Growls, but parts of this album sounds a lot like Tori Amos, I know this sounds weird, but for me that's what I hear. Iwrestledabearone is good, but not great just yet could be better. I can listen to this album without getting bored with it. I like death core bands that growl, not sing, but Iwrestledabearone does it great. I think Iwrestledabearone has potential to do well.

Possessing some semblance of talent is what separates those 2 bands from this run of the mill garbage.

Remember Limp Bizkit and Crazy Town; same thing; people who don't know a thing about anything will think this is some kind of cuh-razy new genre of music; those of us who've been in the know for some time will just sit there and snicker.

4.0 out of 5 stars Boo-hoo!, August 10, 2011

I think this album is interesting. Just stop crying about it, if you didn't buy the CD, then don't post a review here. The singer is great, and I like (some of) the transitions from Jazz or whatever. Obviously, there are some crappy transitions and broken structure here and there, but overall - I give it 4 stars. I don't need every part of every song to be awesome. Most of the music I listen to, be it prog, death/core, etc... have their crappy parts of songs, and then they have the parts that sound really good - even out of context. Lastly, who cares if some other stupid band I have never heard of did this 10 years ago? That doesn't make my taste in music any less valid than yours, metal slob.

3.0 out of 5 stars If this is what you're into..., March 28, 2011
This review is from: It's All Happening (MP3 Download)
One thing about IWABO is that they are aiming to be completely ridiculous, and that is ok. If you like metal/grindcore that is spastic, unstructured, and full of wild and crazy sounds then this is for you. Someone said that the songs (as well as album art) is a mess and to me, that is exactly what this band wants you to think. They present the idea that they don't give a **** what you think about them.

So I would say if you're looking for something completely whacked out and you don't mind trying new things, pick this up. I have a few complaints though about this band. 1, experimental is great and progessing in music is wonderful...but there is such a thing as being experimental for the sake of being experimental. There are odd changes in this album that just make no sense. The jazzy riff fusion that is becoming more popular in metal just doesn't fit. The off key vocals SOMETIMES work, but as a whole, I would have either cleaned them up or left them out and dumbed down the effects. It honestly sounds like IWABO is just throwing things in left and right with the intent of making the song sound aimless and honestly, a bit corny and stupid. You can clearly tell these are highly skilled, extremely talented, and above all precise musicians. Why waste those attributes making music that is just unpleasant to listen to? Just because it changes riffs every 5 seconds doesn't mean it is a "well structured song".

::THIS IS NOT BASED ON FACTS!:: I don't know how true this is but once a guy told me "Oh I went to an IWABO show and the singer saw a kid wearing a My Chemical Romance shirt and she walked up to the front of the stage and punched him in the face!" I have no clue if that happened, but I have seen with fans of this band that a good deal of them have this cliquish scene outlook on music. I don't blame the band 100%, but it does seem like they promote this idea of bands/fans being dominant because they don't "follow the trend". That is completely retarded and the last thing the music world needs at the moment. I hate Trace Adkins with the passion of 100 burning suns, but I'd never blast someone in the face because they liked him.

Someone mentioned the production on this album sounded horrible to them. I don't see how, actually I think this album was done the right way (which is rare with extreme bands) Everything has the right effect, the right mix, its perfect and I think brings out the tone It's All Happening was intended to have. The deal is, with these random key sounds, sweep picking runs, high pitched screaming there isn't a lot of balls to bring out. No, there isn't a massive amount of bass frequencies, but they aren't just sitting there chugging out a barre chord in drop F# either.

So get in your mind what this band is about. Its supposed to be silly, retarded, and pardon the pun, a bit "unbearable". Yes the singer is off key, but she obviously means to be. I mean, she has an outstanding voice and is a very talented screamer, she can do better, she just chooses not to. There are a lot of off the wall things happening but thats the way they wanted it to go. I'm sure its really something to behold live. I saw them live once, but the crowd was dead and the sound system sucked so I got outta there too fast to make a judgment call. My suggestion would be to listen to a few tracks on Youtube or something and then make your choice. Honestly, it isn't for me personally (which is wild because I grew up on death metal/grindcore), but some people may really get into this wildness.

After listening through the cd once, and hearing some of their stuff just from online I was sick of it. but it is worth the money i think. it just gets old more quickly than other bands, it is extremely repetetive. female vocalist and random hardcore.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's tacky., October 7, 2009
This review is from: It's All Happening (Audio CD)
You could just look to other bands who have been blending genres for years now, with much more valid musical theory, with more success, and in less gimmicky ways, who also don't have the annoying "I'm too ironic to even laugh at how funny am I" vibe. Just sayin'. The girl is really good at screaming, and fine at singing...I think. It's hard to tell when everything is drenched in this much delay/reverb. Either way it comes out good on the other end of the computer/mic. But still, eh...just listen to Between the Buried and Me or Tetrafusion or something. : )

4.0 out of 5 stars Musically creative!, September 2, 2009
This review is from: It's All Happening (Audio CD)
This new record builds on the best parts of their EP, and absolutely takes it to the next level. This is the most inventive thing that's happened to metal in...well, since I can remember. Aside from a few so-called metal purists out their this should be well-received by fans of heavy music. I'm not typically fond of melodic vocals, but the vocalist has really honed her skills since the last recording. My only real beef is it's lacking lyrically. I know a lot of people unfortunately don't really care, especially if the words are incomprehensible, but they just don't make any sense and not in a good way. That's not to say they're trite or cliche-- not at all, in fact, they just seem jumbled and nonsensical. Otherwise, highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not for the narrowminded, July 23, 2010
This review is from: It's All Happening (Audio CD)
This is the Band To Hate of 2010. The vocals, guitars, bass, drums, synths, etc., it's all awesome. People can't live with the fact that they are actual musicians that don't give a f*** what anyone thinks of them. I commend and respect them for their carefree attitude and this professional quality CD. Most people don't understand that she's singing like the chicks from the 60's. I really like the cd, it's brutal, original, full of energy and a few good laughs. ^_^ If you are one who doesn't easily follow the pack give it a listen, it's not for everyone but it's not s*** or a fad like most metal snobs claim it is.

3.0 out of 5 stars someone sure wishes they were genghis tron..., October 19, 2009

This review is from: It's All Happening (Audio CD)
let me preface this by saying i LOVE genghis tron--they utterly blew my ever-loving mind when i heard cloak of love.

iwrestledabearonce is like walmart house brand genghis tron. i think they call it "equate" when it's fake tylenol. or sam's choice. this is sam's choice:coca cola. the ingridients are there, and it works a little the same, but something's waaaaay not right.

i dont want to say the chick can't sing, but her vocals are literally off-key on every track. i think they need someone to engineer it who knows what they are doing.

the blast-beats and 'hardcore dance parts' are...you know. adequate. nothing that's going to make you break something in your room, but it's better than...a lot of normal music? i'm trying to be positive.

these kids are trying. i think they should chill out on the chick singing and the wannabe genghisness...

i rated it an honest "it's ok" 3 stars.
