More About the Author

Edwin Navarro has been involved in consciousness exploration since the 1970s. After receiving Masters degrees in physics and mathematics, he had a 20-year career as a physicist, software engineer, and entrepreneur. In the late 1990s he left the business world and began a full-time exploration of dreams, meditative states, and the multi-dimensional aspects of consciousness. This led him deeper into the concepts of A Course in Miracles and ultimately into writing four books about the Course. He lives in Mill Valley, CA.

It's All Mind: The Simplified Philosophy of A Course in MiraclesAuthor Edwin Navarro's goal is to encourage individuals to challenge the ways in which they see and experience the world around them through his brief discussion of the essential elements of Helen Schucman's formidable 1,264-page "Course in Miracles." Schucman, an avowed atheist, claimed to have received the material for her Course by channeling instruction from Jesus. Navarro's familiarity with Schucman's three-part text is obvious as he deftly creates a well-balanced and cogent synopsis that is complete in itself while motivating readers to seek further dialogue with Schucman's work and the work of other writers in the genre. Were he to delve more deeply into his subject in a sequel, an intertextual investigation of like-minded authors, including Plato, the Taoists, Eckhart Tolle, for example, would likely be very well-received. This text is a morsel that will send an intelligent reader in search of a splendid repast.

As explained in the Introduction, no matter how good the teachings are in ACIM, many people find the book difficult to read. Edwin Navarro has done the world a great favor by simplifying the philosophy in ACIM and put it in a little book. I particularly admire the author's insights and clear explanations on the differences between religious teachings and those in ACIM, such as God and forgiveness. I highly recommend this book to all spiritual seekers.

As a long time fan of Marianne Williamson's writings & talks, and I was interested to see someone else's take on ACIM. I have also read ACIM and completed the lessons.

This is readable and very succinct - but it is a very short book. I don't think any book of this length could do complete justice to ACIM. Though I can't say I totally agree with some of his interpretation of ACIM's philosophies, I did find thought-provoking his discussion of what forgiveness really is.

I'm not convinced I would have gotten much out of this book if it were my first introduction to the philosophy, but I will probably refer back to it occasionally as a quick reminder of a few of the high points I've studied in more depth.

Depending on how you reached this page, you may or may not know what the Course in Miracles is, and how many books have already been based on it.
This book will have you started right away, in gleaning the practical results of what ACIM teaches Forgiveness really is.
I'd recommend it highly.
I'm about 7/10 through the large Disappearance of the Universe book by Gary Renard, and so am definitely getting a detailed run-through of the meaning of the Illusion the Universe is, and why we're projecting what's outside of us, etc...
There is a practical method in this book - his take on how to go about a session of Forgiveness, in It's All Mind, and this is the reason I rate this book highly. However, without all of the detailed explanation in D.F.T.U, I don't think I'd be half as effective, because it's good to know the Why's behind what the implications for your spiritual advancement that Forgiveness does for you.

This method, though, in It's All Mind is especially effective as it is along the lines of other paradigms that have you go in a total state of non-resistance to see what's going on inside yourself fears/emotions that you're repressing and afraid to look at.

The exercise in this book helps you to lock on to a specific visual way of declaring you're Forgiveness (ala ACIM), and sending your mistaken, but self-inflicted guilt and fear to the Real World that your Holy Spirit is connected to, all the while feeling what your human consciousness is going through when it is "attacked" (but remember nothing real can be attacked anyway, as acim teaches).

That very old guilt and fear inside you that is projecting out these other illusions attacking you, I feel, is more powerfully ejected when you do it in the way this book describes.

According to the Course, the material world does not exist, our bodies do not exist. All is illusion. Attacks are illusion. This is difficult to grasp but I am nevertheless keeping an open mind. Indeed we project our FEARS onto the external world and thus attract (through the law of attraction) experiences we perceive as ATTACKS. So attacks must be seen as ego projections. And since we all see the world differently, much of it has got to be illusion.

However, I like to believe that, since All is God, the multi-dimensional world is the body of God, that the dense energies of this world challenge us to become conscious of our true nature, of our Eternal Self. I also believe that our souls evolve from unconsciousness to enlightenment as we journey through the various dimensions, some physical, some non-physical. For that matter, it is said that many here on Earth are now ascending from the third to the fourth dimension. The key to the fourth dimention is pure love.

The Course teaches us to practice forgiveness, compassion, kindness, unconditional love, which will weaken the ego and reveal our true essence. So, to me, what is important is to remember that, despite the filters that distort and limit our perceptions, we "exist" for the purpose of "embodying" unconditional love in this world. The Course shows us the way.
