5.0 out of 5 stars N.O. music history, April 10, 2006
This review is from: UNLV - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
someone named "a music fan" CLAIMED Turk & Cash Money coined the phrase"IT AIN'T MY FAULT" later used by NO LIMIT..NOT TRUE !!!!
The original song named "IT AIN'T MY FAULT" was recorded by a N.O. jazz/blues musician sometime between the late 1950's-early 1970's!!!!!!

IN ADDITION THE LOCAL JAZZ/BRASS BANDS WERE PLAYING IT REGULARLY AT SECOND-LINES,JAZZ FUNERALS ETC WAY BEFORE ANY OF THE RAPPERS USED IT !!!

N.O. music is big on call and response songs..Bounce music is the same, made about current New Orleans trends/dances/slang etc....

SO THE ARTISTS MIGHT USE THE SAME SLANG IN THEIR OWN SONGS BECAUSE THATS HOW EVERYONE IN CITY IS TALKING NOT JUST ANY ONE PARTICULAR RAPPER/GROUP/LABEl !!

They ARE NOT BITING each others lyrics!!!
examples include: "twerk something","catch the wall","get your mind right","ya heard me","whodi","drop it like its hot","bout it bout it","hot girls","hot boyz","my round" and many more....

DJ JUBILEE who was the king of N.O.Bounce music had a major regional hit w/the song,"BACK DAT AZZ UP"(it was so big that he signed w/TommyBoy yet they did not release the video nor song) but he did not receive National airplay nor widespread video play either..

Both DJ JUBILEE's & JUVENILE's songs were crafted after a local dance & local slang!!!!!!!!!

So unlike alot of places New Orleans rappers are reppin the city's slang versus stealing from each other.........

Rappers from Ludacris,Chingy,Gangsta Boo & the especially the Ying Yang Twins have used N.O.La. slang/lyrics in some of their biggest hits..

"gimme what u got for a pork chop","shake it like a salt shaker",pussy popping",and Gansta Boo's remake of BustDown's "NASTY BITCH"..

check out some of the 1985-1995 N.O.rap and u'll hear ALL THOSE lyrics/slang

It features UNLV and they were 1 of the most slept on artist from the dirty. But please believe if you like Juve, Bg, (hotboys) then you will love this cd because it brings you back to before cashmoney was nation and people were hungry. They were the introduction to NEW ORLEANS style of Rap........
