5.0 out of 5 stars What The Hell? Hilarious!!! July 26, 2010
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I came to this show late in life, I didnt start watching until season 3. I had to buy seasons 1 and 2 to catch up, and I have been stuck ever since. I have vowed, if I ever won millions in the lottery, to donate 1 million dollars so that this show could keep on going. Mac and Charlie, Dennis and Dee and Danny DeVito as Frank are five of the biggest NUTS in Philadelphia. With thier get rich quick schemes ranging from becoming a surrogate mother for a well-to-do couple to writing a movie in competition with M.Night Shyamalan they get into mess after mess. The issues in this show are jaw dropping hilarous. Charlie thinking he is an attorney, Dennis thinking he is God's gift to women, while maintaining a quasi-homosexual relationship with Mac, Frank pulling a gun at every corner and Dee just being Dee, Sunny is a show that just makes life worth living.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the Blu-Ray version December 27, 2010
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
I'm not reviewing the show itself, which is spectacular and worthy of 5 stars, but instead this specific Blu-ray release. I do recommend picking this up on regular dvd but here's what's wrong with the Blu-ray.

The major problem is that the show isn't shot in HD, so these episodes are all upconverted SD. They admit to this fact straight off in a little specially filmed bit to explain this. While it's a neat little bit, it's still basically saying you shelled out the extra money for nothing. If you have an upconverting DVD player you'll be all set. There's a few blu-ray exclusive features but nothing that warrants the extra amount for this. Unless you find it at the same price as the normal DVD then stick with that.

My other issue with this set (and I think the dvd set as well has these) are the audio commentaries. Now I made my review 3 stars instead of 2 since they even did audio commentaries at all and I think that's great but there's only a couple and 2 of them are horribly ruined by sticking Dr. Drew from Celebrity Rehab into them. It would be a kinda funny additional commentary for intervention episode, but having that instead of a normal commentary is just bad. And it's made worse by how extremely boring his commentary is.

So buy the DVD, the episodes are awesome and you'll watch them over and over, but skip the Blu-ray.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Funniest Shows on TV July 8, 2010
This show is one of the most original and funniest shows on television right now. The characters are dynamic and hilarious, the situations are absurd, and the final product is nothing short of television brilliance. If you have never seen this show, you are truly missing out. Season Five finds the Gang in their element yet again, with episodes about drinking games and interventions. This is a show that no true comedy fan should miss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy DVD, NOT blu-ray September 18, 2010
I just got into this show this summer after a friend loaned me the season 1 & 2 DVD's and have bought the remaining season's to get caught up before season 6 premiered. It's a great show, but season 5 was not shot in HD, so there's no need for a blu-ray. Save some money and buy the DVD instead. I still have to give the show a five though because it's that good and because they provide a cocky message at the front of the blu-ray that tells you that they just ripped you off. Only these guys could get away with this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Besides The Office, one of THE funniest shows on TV August 9, 2010
I bought this show after reading a review about Arrested Developement(which is NOTHING compared to this show)....after watching it (and almost pissing my pants with laughter) I went out and bought every single season!!!! This show is SOOOOOOOOO hilarious and quick witted!!! Everytime I watch an episode, I hear a side comment or something being said that I didnt hear before (I must have been laughing so hard the first time, that I missed them) I can watch them over and over again and its just like its my first time!!!! I CANNOT WAIT until season 5 comes out of DVD!!! "World Series Defense" is THE funniest episode EVER (whoop, there it is. Whoop, there it is) Im still laughing at it!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars KITTEN MITTENS!! September 30, 2010
12 Episodes on 3 Discs, being released September 14, 2010

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" debuted in 2005 and now its fifth season is coming to DVD. The series was created by Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, and Charlie Day (who recently appeared in "Going the Distance") and the three hold writing and producing credits for it. They also star in it as Dennis, Mac, and Charlie along with Dee played by Kaitlin Olson and Dennis and Dee's father, Frank played by Danny DeVito. The premise is that the group owns and works at a bar called Paddy's Pub and this is a group of the dumbest, most ignorantly entertaining people you will ever watch. They don't seem to understand most social interaction rules and each of them thinks quite a bit of themselves and they are always fighting and out to get each other, therefore hilarity ensues.

Episodes from this season include the gang going to the Grand Canyon, exploiting the mortgage crisis, Dee and Charlie getting fired, giving Frank an intervention, the Waitress getting married, the gang trying to go to the World Series, Mac and Dennis break up, the D.E.N.N.I.S. system for attracting and making women dependent upon him, the gang attempting to write a movie and be in a movie by M. Night Shyamalan, the gang reigniting a rivalry for Flipadelphia (a beer flip cup tournament), and my favorite episode - Kitten Mittens where Charlie invents a new product. Another episode that I really enjoyed was where the gang decided to put on a wrestling event for the troops and Mac, Dennis, and Charlie became a team called the "Birds of Prey" dressed up with feathers all over, but Frank steals the show as "The Trash Man" whose gimmick is eating garbage. Eww.

will this include the christmas special?
While they did consider it the 13th episode of the season, I doubt you'll see it included in the set. The cost of that episode alone is almost as much as the season set and since it did not air on television with the other 12 episodes I'm guessing we're out of luck. I don't know that for a fact... Read More

season 5 dvds problem
I just received my DVD set today and experienced the same problem on the same disc with the last two episodes on the disc (Kitten Mittens and Dennis and Mac Break Up). It's somewhat reassuring to know that this is a known problem, but I fear this will be a hassle to receive a suitable replacement... Read More
