5.0 out of 5 stars The Lyrical Lexicon Is On Point!!! Easily Five Stars
Keith Murray is without a doubt one of my favorite emcees. He's just incredible. Mic presence, lyrics, flow, and attitude. He basically rips the mic everytime. This album was released before he went to jail for beating up someone and boom there's his street cred. Not like he never had it, but he got more. 1.0 out of 5 stars terrible album
Only song i liked is When I Rap. The rest of the album is garbage and i don't know why he put the Def Squad song with Too Short called Ride With Us on this album because that song was already on Def Squad's El Nino album.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Lyrical Lexicon Is On Point!!! Easily Five Stars, June 20, 2002
This review is from: It's a Beautiful Thing (Audio CD)
Keith Murray is without a doubt one of my favorite emcees. He's just incredible. Mic presence, lyrics, flow, and attitude. He basically rips the mic everytime. This album was released before he went to jail for beating up someone and boom there's his street cred. Not like he never had it, but he got more. Plus his pals keeping his name in the public eye: Erick Sermon, LL Cool J, Redman and others, his comeback would be enormous. And enormous it was. The hyper- energetic Keith Murray happened to outshine LL Cool J, and Ludacris with his `badoonkadoonk' verse on 2001's summer anthem Fatty Girl. Then he outhypes Ghostface Killah and G Dep on the Special Delivery Remix. Where is the new album?!?!?!?!?

Enough about that on to the review.
I remember when I first got this album and I played it out so much that I had to put it down for about two or three months. After that I picked it back up and continued to play it. I couldn't get enough of it. I tried to tell my friends about him but they was like naw he's wack and I was like ok. They didn't have a clue. Thank goodness this cd never got scratched; I don't know what I would have done. One thing's for sure, Keith Murray has skills and plenty of it.

Keith Murray shows that he is one of the best in the game with When I Rap.
He proclaims that when he raps "competition perform disappearing acts" and brags about kicking verses with Father Time who "put the world on pause cause I monked his head up with a rhyme".
He proves he's as `Incredible' as LL Cool J with lines like ` 3 for 3 from the three point land, with more devastation than a nicca can withstand!' Lyrically he is incredible.
He outshines Canibus on Some Shhh where he is `dissin and pissing off of recognition of niccas that listen just to let you know how I'm livin"
He backs that up when he `Slaps Somebody' in the bodega because "nobody will never see his level" and because he "speaks with more technique than Karate".
Just peep Radio where he got the "skunky funky illest funk flow for the glamorous scandalous world of Radio", and on Media he claims that he can "turn a rap atheist into a def squad believer" and he will "make you nod ya head so much you need counseling".
With Life On The Street he says that ` you can sell a million records and be wack or you can have mad skillz and don't sell jack".
Ride With Us with Too Short and the Def Squad which is a pimp track where he says "you know damn well you can't stop our production".
He also gets High As Hell and `puts some Visine in his eyes so no one can tell'.
And on Bad Day he claims that `he aint the first and he won't be last, just look at how they did Pac and Tyson in the past' and that `his life done went from bad to worse'.

"People wondering will I prevail or fail but only time will tell". Keith Murray has prevailed and needs to drop the highly anticipated comeback album.

This Keith Murray album is simply a masterful album. This is only the second album which I have completely memorized; the first being Snoop's Doggystyle. That means this cd gets many spins from me and will continue to get spins. Packed with unforgettable quotables, tight production, battle rhyming, lifestyle tracks, laid back and personal tracks the cd comes together as a whole and not just a couple of songs with filler in between. It truly is a Beautiful Thing when you can listen to a whole cd and not get bored or tired and NEVER have to use the fast forward button. Even four years later I'm still listening to the entire cd and I'm still amazed at this talent. This is easily K. Murray's best album and I would advise anybody to pick this up if they like Hip Hop.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid, April 7, 2000
This review is from: It's a Beautiful Thing (Audio CD)
I'm a big Keith Murray fan, but I have to say this album is good, not great. I give 4 stars, though, because it has solid rhyming, production, and several good tracks. My favorite tracks are Incredible, Some Sh**, Radio, Media, and High as Hell. There aren't any songs that aren't good, all the songs are at least good. There are also some solid guest appearances by LL Cool J and Canibus, but I thought the appearances by Redman, Erick Sermon, and Too Short were kinda weak. Murray fans will probably like this, others may not.

Mr. Murray is back after 2 and a half years to bring us his 3rd solo album. Of the 4 albums of his I own (I don't have "Enigma" yet), this along with hs debut and newest "Rap-Murr-Phobia" all are just short of 4.5 stars, and his "He's Keith Murray" I'd say is his worst effort, 3.5 maybe 4 stars. No doubt the Long Island, NY native is one of the illest to ever grace the M-I-C and once again he proves so on this effort. With 13 songs, it's a lil short, but 1 is ok, 1 is almost a classic, the other 11 are good or real good songs. Guests are minimal only on 4 songs, and mostly good ones that go along with Keith well. Production is handled entirely by the Green eyed Bandit, Erick Sermon, so you know that part is good. A must have album from a real lyricist.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE LYRICAL LEXICON HAS DONE IT AGAIN!, January 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: It's a Beautiful Thing (Audio CD)
I just got through listening to "it's a beautiful thing" and it's off the hinges.Murray comes with lyrics that are so on point that a professional sniper would be hard pressed to do any better.Check out the callaboration with Canibus as Murray holds his own against one of today's fiercest MC's.Also with Erick Sermon behind the boards you know the beats are slammin'.Buy this CD and be prepared to be blown away "When he raps".

This review is from: It's a Beautiful Thing (Audio CD)
I haven't gotten to check out the whole thing yet, but I have listened to a promo record containing six tracks, all of which are hot. If you like lyrics and E Double's production, this should definetly be worth your money.

THE WAY KEITH PUTS HIS WORDS TOGETHER IS WHAT GETS ME! I CAN TELL THAT A LOT OF TIME AND ENERGY WAS PLACED INTO HIS MUSIC AND THE CD WASN'T JUST THROWN TOGETHER. KEITH, I'LL BE GLAD WHEN YOU'RE OUT SO YOU CAN SHOW US SOME MORE OF YOUR TRACKS.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Murray iz killin' 'em on dis., June 13, 2001
This review is from: It's a Beautiful Thing (Audio CD)
Juzt wanna stste dat Keith Murray iz "one of da illezt MC'z on da streetz 2day + whack rapperz shudn't come hiz way". He haz da illezt verbal dexterity in da game. He'z juzt got out da pen, hopefully he iz gonna make a new album. Hiz verbal dexterity iz in da same league dat Canibus iz in. Canibus may have bad production but spitz hard + raw. Murray haz both. U want an ill album, buy dis... ***** U won't b able 2put it down.

This review is from: It's a Beautiful Thing (Audio CD)
Straight out the Conneticut cell block the Masterfull MC Kieth Murray blast through the rap scene with It's a Beautiful Thing. The under estimated member of Def Squad comes through with his high flying second album. From When I Rap to High as Hell the funky lyrics of Kieth Murray go on and on. Keep it Real Kieth!
