It’s a Big Big World takes place in the beautiful World Tree, set in a rainforest, where Snook, a charismatic sloth, lives with his diverse group of animal friends. Together they investigate the world around them and discover how different things live, grow and change. It’s a Big Big World’s patented "Shadowmation" technique combines puppetry and computer graphics to bring the characters and their environment to life.

It’s a Big Big World - Safe and Sound, includes:

Out on a Limb: It’s Winslow’s birthday and he decides to go where no marmoset has ever gone before – up to the very top of the World Tree. But when he gets stuck on a high branch and has to be rescued, he realizes that even though he’s older, he still needs to be safe.

The Big Sneeze: Bob received a bouquet of flowers and soon after he can’t stop sneezing. But with a little help from Madge, his sneezing stops and he learns all about allergies.

The Itch: Bob has an itch that he thinks was caused by a poisonous plant, so he investigates all the plants in the World Tree to make sure everyone stays safe.

Bones: After hurting his arm, Winslow learns the hard way what happens when you don’t take time to let your injuries heal.

My five and six year old children are able to describe what drives air currents and weather. This video is entertaining and quite educational. It examines ecological events as well as social and emotional concerns of young people. I really like the big world videos.

My 2-year-old LOVES this show, but when PBS in our area shifted the broadcast time, we couldn't watch it. The sale price on the videos made it easy and soon we had the whole gang at home. The songs are very catchy, and our son has most of them memorized. The plot conflicts are real, but very low-threat - not scary for toddlers, as some shows can be. The combination of puppetry and green-screen animation is seamless and visually spectacular, although the perpetually saturated colors can be a strain on the eyes after a while. I recommend equal parts of this show and outdoor play.
